Cowboys meeting with DE Clowney

Ahhhh so this is why he's still available. He wants too much $.
That’s his regular thing of late. He signs short deals and demands lots of money. So, waits a long time to pick a team and will find someone with injuries or someone who has a DE flame out early.

It’s an odd strategy but it’s worked for him I guess

Still in yours.

Pretty sure I was 100% correct 5 minutes after the trade was made.

But you go ahead and keep believing it was a good trade. You keep telling yourself it is a good thing for an Owner to trade for a player without talking to his coaching staff or scouting department.
You are the one that keeps bringing him up. Then patting yourself on the back.
No One Cares.

He may have decided he has made enough money by this point in his career and his main interest being in joining a team that gives himself the best chance of winning a ring.
Probably two fold, maybe the Cowboys were talking a lower number than he ideally wanted and figured not knowing much about the Cowboy's season trajectory he would just wait to see if someone offered more money and or a chance to win. I do think if the Jets offered 10 million and a playoff team offered 7-8 million he probably takes the extra money rather than a chance to win but who knows for sure.

Look, he's a hired mercenary, and he will do this, it happens..

he's trying to get the most money and hopefully the best situation but it's all about money, I mean the guy played for Carolina that's all I need to know, but he's still in the mix here IMHO

if we need one, I think the Cowboys also want to wait until we play the Giants we need to know whether we're going to need a hope at defensive end, or are we going to need help at corner, because it could be Gilmore is the guy we can bring in,
so this is a positive thing for the Cowboys that they are waiting whether it's his choice or theirs..

Other GMs certainly make mistakes. No other GM makes mistakes for 30 years.
Course not because they haven't owned and ran a team for that long That still doesn't make him a bad GM because he's been one for 30 years and you can count all his mistakes because some were so bad they couldn't last five years in the league and they're gone so what's your point I mean he is a very good GM he's just not one of the great ones he's mid level but he is not the worst GM in the league if you think that that is why you and I will never agree with anything because you're not looking at the big picture he's done more good than bad especially if you go all the way back to 1989 and stop trying to delete and cancel culture History Super Bowls that he definitely impacted by buying the team and doing the whole entire hiring of Jimmy Johnson and making sure there was money and make sure the trades went through you don't get to start from the year 2000 because you sound like an evil fan that's what the Eagles do you start from 1996 as if the rest of the time doesn't count..

I get what you're saying he's annoying the things he does with his narcissism and he always wants to be in front of a camera or a microphone I just ignore all that but in the end you look at the draft picks you look overall has the team been winning do they win divisions are they getting into the playoffs they are definitely not in the bottom of the NFL they've been in the top twelve of the NFL in regular season win percentage for a very long time they've been to the playoffs more on a more regular basis than most teams even though the playoff success isn't there yes he should get some blame for it but stop acting like this guys the worst GM to ever live on the planet because he's not That's just a hate for Jerry because of the things he says and does but when you really look at it he may not be a top 10 front office guy but he's definitely not lower than 16 they're a far worse teens in this league that can't even get a division win or can't win on a regular basis and that's a fact..

c

I’m almost 100% certain the $$$ they offered were not close to what he values himself at
Of course, they don't want to pay him more than Fowler. He probably should get around what Fowler got or a little bit more.

Iggles, Commodes, Chiefs and a host of other teams have him on speed dial if/when they lose a player and can replace them with Clowney. Dallas is a last-ditch pit stop in his career, this is the way for players like him looking for $$$$

Clowney got 10 million last year coming off a 9.5 sack season in 23, then last year had 4 less. Probably doesn't get 10 million, but the Cowboys were probably thinking it would be a few million rental for the year. Probably still looking for 5-7 million.
Za'Darius Smith had 9 sks between CLE/DET and just signed with the eagles for $4.25 million.
