They are just going with what worked last week. Once a good D shuts us down, or of one of them and we can't move the ball on the ground he will get his chance IMO.

This is another big game and I'm sure they don't want to experiment this week.

DMC has injury history a mile long
Randle has a rap sheet a mile long
Dunbar is a scat back
CMike will get his shot sooner than later

It sounds easy to say just activate him
And many wanted Dunbar inactive so CM could be active but it's not so easy to activate 4 rb's when most don't play special teams
That said with dez out this week I would think it would be a great chance
Don't see a WR who struggled with the offense he learned all training camp coming and contributing much in a week so might be a good time to get some carries for cm

The third time he is active the 7th round pick goes to Seattle, so I guess the plan is to wait until one of the other backs is hurting so they can get a good look instead of just taking a few peeks and losing the draft pick. Although it wasn't stated explicitly, I'm sure one of the backs being ineffective could activate Michael as well.

The other line of thinking that as long as you are winning, great... and bringing in a fresh bruiser back late in the season, gives you an advantage going in to postseason...

Not complaining, but we traded for a guy who's going to be 4th on our RB depth chart? Maybe the team just wasn't expecting all 3 of our RBs to show that they can contribute and remain healthy after week 1 lol.

They don't trust Randle to stay out of trouble, and they don't trust McFadden to stay healthy.

So it's kind of a given he'll be active soon.

I think they're taking McFadden's injury history into consideration.

he needs to be evaluated vs. Randle and McFadden and the only way to do that is to activate him and give him some carries, this makes no sense to me. For all we know he could be light years better than both

that's the only way you can evaluate him, coaches can see him outside of games and evaluate

Tell Randle that the kick and punt returners on the opposing teams have signature colognes in their pockets, bam, now he's out there dominating on special teams and they can afford to activate Michael and see what he can do with the rock.

terrible decision. get him out there and see what he can do.

If they barely gave McFadden a sniff, why would they give a guy that's been on the roster for 2 weeks a sniff? Not that I agree with their thinking, but I am just saying.

It was a conditional pick. I think we'll bring him along and just see if he can displace somebody. With his ability, he might. But he was never going to just walk in and become the starter like some suggested. They'll at least give him a few weeks to learn the playbook before they start the clock on him. And somebody is going to go down with a hammy or an ankle before too long, no matter what.

Do we know the condition of the pick? Somebody said it was tied to games active as in 46 man roster; however, in the past it has been tied to games on 53.

Nope. Not that I've seen. I've reqs it's a three game condition, but I'm not sure if it's on the active or the game day roster.

Cowboys might not activate Christine Michael until injury befalls RB

While running back Christine Michael was inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Giants, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said the newcomer has "made a lot of progress in a short period of time" since his acquisition from the Seahawks.

Although, it seems it would take an injury to the running back trio of Joseph Randle, Lance Dunbar and Darren McFadden before Michael gets his chance to make an impact.

"I do think if any time one of them has an injury or isn't 110 percent, then we'll see what Christine Michael has to bring to the table as well," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Monday during a radio interview, per The Dallas Morning News...

Kinda expected this.

Maybe some fresh legs down the stretch at best.

Get to December and come in and thump some guys.

Good grief guys. Just because Jones says this today doesn't mean anything. If Michael is blowing up in practice, he will get a shot. Unless the RBs we are using blow it up in games, then he may not.

So its a bit of both. But Garrett and crew are going to go with the best talent in their opinion. So if Michael shows that in practice and the other RBs don't kill it on game days, we will most likely see Michael play. But the Rbs had 200 YARDS FROM SCRIMMAGE in game #1. We can argue about meat on the bone, but 200 yards from scrimmage is always a good showing.

Yeah, the majority of that is receiving. We're looking for a runner here.

It was reported when the trade went down that he must be "Active" for three games in order to trigger the condition.

So is it going to be the same problem with Brice Butler? I mean ok WR is a position of need cause of the situation but our RB situation isn't settled, why not carry 4 of them & deactivate streets for Butler? Give each back a chance and roll with the hot hand, he wasn't given a chance in Seattle with Lynch, there's no lynch here, don't get me wrong I liked what I saw from Randle and the crew but we are without our biggest offensive threat.

They don't need to deactivate "streets" (Devin Street) because the new WR Butler is probably not ready to be active; however, they only carried 7 DL last week and they probably want to carry 8 most weeks.

The backups didn't really get enough carries against the Giants to get much feel for what they can do.

McFadden: 6 carries
Dunbar: Zero carries

Randle barely got enough to get much feel for him as a starter with 16 carries.

"What do active mean?"

The 53 is often called the active roster to distinguish from the practice squad but the 46 is the game-day "active" roster.
