During the month of June, the Last Word On Sports NFL department will construct a Mount Rushmore for each team. For this series, we will only consider players. Today, the Dallas Cowboys are the focus.

I would. I would put Lilly on the Cowboys Rushmore, regardless of how you decide to put it together. He was the first. First pick, first truly great player, first HOFer. He was the first.

Bob Lilly is considered one of the best defensive lineman and defenders of all time. While Don Meredith was a good QB he isn't considered one of the best ever. Lilly was the only Cowboy on the 75th anniversary all-time team if you don't count part time Cowboys Lance Alworth, Forrest Gregg or Mike Ditka.
