OAKLAND -- Dallas Cowboys' officials are in the final stages of agreeing on a deal to move their practice facility from Irving, Texas to Frisco, Texas.

The city of Frisco, roughly an hour from downtown Dallas, will have a special meeting with the city council and various other entities to approve the deal on Monday.

Cowboys officials were not available for comment.

"We're very excited about these latest developments," Frisco mayor Maher Maso said via e-mail. "That said, it would be inappropriate for us to comment prior to any action taken by our city council, and the boards of our other public partners."

Not thrilled about this. Valley Ranch has pretty much built that town because the Cowboys are there. Not a huge fan of it. All the street names named after players. My house was on Cowboys parkway and Meredith Court. It's a shame that are ready to just up and leave a town that was built around them being there. Heck I worked at the ranch health club when I was 16 which is right in front of the HQ

It would have to be really bad traffic to be an hour from Downtown Dallas. It's probably 20 (maybe 25) minutes in normal traffic.

The commute just doubled for almost everyone involved. They should have just stayed in Valley Ranch. It was convenient for the players to live right there in Las Colinas.

I think, to some extent, that's the point. Wherever they call home will bring in revenue and the city (and residents) benefit. In an ideal world, things stay where they are, but if another city is offering a better deal its a win for the Cowboys and whatever city gets the commitment.

Money Talks I guess, would have been nice for them to atleast stay in Dallas County tbh. So they can have some connection to something Dallas. Now they play in 2 cities that don't even border the city of Dallas. I kinda understand playing in Arlington (a city right between Dallas and For Worth), but to have their HQ in such an obscure city like Frisco is kinda weird.

Frisco is a great option.

Jerry owns tons of land there so it was probably going to happen eventually.
Many players have lived in Frisco or further North including Deion, Randy White and many others.
Frisco is a hot bed for athletes much like Southlake/Colleyville, HP and Preston Hollow.

I had heard JJ had been buying land which would be used for a new training facility, but only knew it was "in the Dallas area".

So, is the fancy new stadium at Frisco going to be a part of this? Will the training facility be adjacent to the stadium?
