He'd better be accurate though.

It's no use having a cannon arm if you can't hit a receiver.

Remember Jeff George?
I remember him. I also remember JaMarcus Russell. OT, but I hope Cardell Jones isn't Jamarcus Russell 2.0

I wouldn't mind taking him with the top pic, other than the large number of posters that will scream for him to start everytime Tony has an off game, throws a pic, takes a sack, doesn't convert a third down, misses an open receiver, wears his cap backwards.
I honestly think we trade down though

Why because you think Tennessee is going to trade the pick? I could see that happening...

thats the history of the draft when the first over all isnt looking for a QB
and I think SF is the most likely
The QB then turns on the Brown and their view of knucklehead Manziel

Disagree. My top 5 in the NFL Draft

1) Tennessee has Mariota
2) Browns? They just drafted Manziel - are they going to pay 2 1st round QBs? Doubtful - unless they trade JF
3) Chargers need defense. Bosa goes here
4) Ravens have Flacco. No need for QB this high
5) Cowboys can get either Goff or Lynch. I'm down with Goff

We also have the chance to move up as high as 2nd overall. If Jerry is serious about a competent backup for Romo, here's his golden chance.

your not factoring in trade downs by the two top teams

But a trade down is a hypothetical, not an absolute. If somebody wants to trade up, it's hard to account for that. Keep in mind that the price for trading up is steep and in a draft like this where there's not a generational prospect, there's probably not a lot of takers.

I'm pretty sure TEN wants to keep the #1 pick so they can draft Tunsil and protect their investment in Mariota.

I certainly dont know but as an example last years QB's went one two and both
had flaws. Tenn can get at minimum another #1 and still grab a great LT.
If Goff grades out high I can see some takers. QB market is very high.
Again I hope your right I'd love it if Goff or Lynch dropped to 4

That's true. I'll also add that given we are actually 4th overall right now and all the comp picks we have, we are in great position to go get anyone we want be it Goff or my man Bosa. The possibilities are plenty. We'll see soon enough.

With blitz happy D coordinators nowadays, we need someone with his height to see pre-snap coverages (he's 6'4"), makes quick decisions, accurate arm, good footwork, and is mobile. He seems like the perfect prospect to succeed Romo as our franchise QB.

If we end up with the 4th pick then I suspect SF will trade up to the 3rd pick up in order to guarantee they get the QB they want....maybe even the 2nd pick if Cleveland isn't planning to draft a QB.

Tenn is screwed in a way because everyone knows that Tenn doesn't need a QB. The sweet spot is 2nd or 3rd pick if you want to trade up and it won't cost you as much.

Look at the top 15 draft order. Only Cleveland, Dallas, SF, NO? and Eagles are potentially looking for a QB. These are teams that has a realistic chance of trading up. If Cleveland really wants to trade down then it has the perfect spot for SF to jump Dallas to get the QB it really wants. SF can also trade with SD.

Gabbert was servicable this year, not great, but not a trainwreck either. He was constantly under pressure and his OL is subpar. A lot of Niner fans (and there's a lot here in Utah) will tell you that they need all their picks to help stock the cupboard as their defense was decimated and they don't have any 'wow' playmakers on offense.

That being said, you never know what scouts will push for and I think there's a portion of the fanbase that is smarting themselves over taking Smith in 2004 vs. Rogers and ignoring the local kid.

Then I'd be happy taking Lynch if the Browns draft Goff :D

If the Browns take a QB, I think they go with Lynch. Lynch is better suited to play in the rough winter conditions of Cleveland moreso than Goff is.

Very good point. I live in Cleveland and know how those winter's can be!
