An article about the Cowboys and the minimum spend floor is a waste of time.

Exactly. I don't get how a team like the Cowboys who seem to never have cap space available are so far near the min. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Also, do they take into account the ridiculous cap penalties the Cowboys and the Skins had to pay.

The article is referencing 2 specific years, 2013 and 2014. The "cash" spend was lower in those years in large part because they had massive amounts of dead money from previous years of spending. The dead money does not count as cash spend.

The salary cap floor rule is based on the average over 4 years. The Cowboys average over the 4 years 2011 though 2014 was well above the required minimum spend levels. I'm certain that 2015 and 2016 will be well above the minimum also. All of the signing bonuses that the Cowboys will be giving out to retain some of their 23 free agent will be counted as cash spend in 2015.

Again, it's really a waste of time to even discuss. They will average out well above the minimum spend level and will like average out towards the top of all teams in actual cash spending which they have done most years.

I want to see Jerry win a superbowl to shut up the Jimmy crowd that said he would never win a superbowl again. Jerry would win it his way, and with his coach.

I would like Jerry to prove he can win a Super Bowl without Jimmy or his players

Yeah, the Cowboys will never be like Jacksonville or Oakland. They are going to try to compete.

I think this comment reveals more about you than anything you have ever said before. I also believe the comment illuminates your true feelings about fans of this team who don't seem to agree with you.

I'd like to say I am surprised. But I believe there are a great number of people who hold similar emotions for other fans of the same team they root for.

I've often stated that nowadays if your - royal your - opinion doesn't dovetail with a specific crowd about all issues with this team, people actually despise you for having a different point of view.

I guess this is why some run off and start their boys club site so only people that agree can post. I'd say it is sad, but it is only a sign of the times in this country.

Camaraderie be hanged, let's just hate those guys because they don't agree. Because there is nothing wrong with hating people that are different.

Will Rolando McClain be a member of the Boys in 2015?
He will be suspended for the 1st four games after a failed drug test.

Cowboys don't need to spend money and if they do they need to do it wisely and continue to draft well and develop young players that are inexpensive. That's the way you win in this league.

That's true and nobody would disagree, except - this is probably the last draft to truly develop players to be good to great in a couple of years to complement what we currently have. After this draft we simply will run out of time in the Romo window for development.

It's quite possible we could have a top ten defense with this offensive line down the road but without a good to great quarterback, you are going to struggle to be an elite team. I'm all for spending the money now and doing whatever needs to be done to put the best team in the best possible position to win now.

No all teams don't. New England, Seattle, San Fran, Indy, GB don't. Those teams draft well, make good trades, retain their own players and let go of players that they don't need anymore a year or two before it's too late.

I don't think you're understanding the point here. Yes theoretically that is the way to build a team, but you still need to re-sign the young players coming up for a new contract and you have to spend above the cash floor by the contact that was agreed upon with the NFLPA. You're kinda arguing a different point here. Dallas *has* to spend money weather they want to or not.

If you were a hardcore fan you would have already known he's not getting suspended. He's getting fined for four games worth of pay.
There was an active thread on it for days on the front page here and may still be there.

I don't know if I trust you...

I do understand. I didn't go into re-signing young players coming up for a new contract but that's what I meant by retaining players. Meaning retaining young players specifically key young players. So I do understand. I just didn't elaborate that deeply. My point is not spending money on these big name free agents. That's what I don't want to see.
