Absolutely nothing, but that's not the point. We just dropped multiple picks and tens of millions of dollars on a single player with whom a lot of our future success lies. If Kitna does nothing more than give Romo some pointers on how to utilize Williams' skills more effectively then he's worth his weight in gold. That, and the fact that Kitna is a far better option than Brad Johnson was.
I'm not arguing against these points i'm asking the merits of the article's "Kitna Effect", that I don't buy.

Palmer Tuesday on ESPN’s The Herd with Colin Cowherd:

"…you said that the biggest move of the offseason wasn’t Jay Cutler. It wasn’t T.O., but it was Jon Kitna going to Dallas, and you couldn’t have been more right…If Tony just follows what he (Kitna) says and listens to him, he’s gonna have a great year."

Co-sign.

My heart fluttered when Kitna was signed becaused at that very point in time I knew we finally had a fully capable backup to TR that could go in and win games if needed (in the event of injury of course...). Great move picking him up.

I think part of the "effect" will be the in-game guidance and suggestions that Kitna can give when things are going badly. He might be more effective than Wade Wilson in that regard.

A fart in a tornado is more effective than Wade Wilson, in any regard.

No offense to Kitna, but apart from prior experience with Roy Williams, what knowledge could he impart that Vinnie Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Brad Johnson, Jason Garrett, Wade Wilson and Troy Aikman haven't already?

I could have missed it, but was Testaverde, Bledsoe, and Johnson reported as capable and willing mentors? I don't think Jason Garrett is going to have the time to spend as much time with Romo as what Kitna will have.

Even if he doesn't help Romo any more than those guys you mentioned, I think he is a definite upgrade at the back-up position, which everyone knew we desperately needed by the middle of this past season.

Did he elaborate on how Kitna's going to help Romo not be a bottom-heavy Hollywood racist?

You try way too hard to live up to your nom de plume...

It's easier than you think, but thanks for noticing.

Yup, that, in my opinion, is why he was brought in in the first place. It is imperative that Romo and Williams get on the same page this year. Who better to help that process than the guy who helped Williams post his best years as a pro?

That's what makes this move refreshing, .Kitna can help the intrergration of Romo to Roy, and if need be throw the rock to Roy himself ,like the old days...Don't tell me Stephen Jones doesn"t want to win...hehehe

If mistakes lead to experience, Kitna has experience out the ears. Kitna certainly has a lot of experience making *** throws and horrible interceptions ... I really can't think of a QB that has stuck around as long as Kitna has with a near 1:1 INT:TD ratio. Nor is it easy to find a QB who makes it 12 years in the league with only 3 of them throwing more TDs than interceptions. As someone who has had the misfortune of having him on my fantasy team and thusly watching more horrible Lions games than I care to admit, if you think Tony Romo is reckless with the football wait till you get a load of this guy in extended action.

But he has high "grit factor". He'll scream at his teammates and stuff. Plus, he says "the right things" to the media which makes me feel that he "really wants it" .. which is obviously the most important attribute of any QB, as I have recently learned.
