Isn't that what fans here wanted though? They didn't want the angry Dez who would 'throw tantrums.' Instead, Dez has settled in with the Dallas apathy that pervades all long timers here. They can smile when losing or look nonchalant. Better that than 'disrupting the locker room' right? If you look at Dez now, it seems like a lot of that fire he used to have is gone.
I pointed this out as well. I've always been fine with Dez's competitive fire and emotion. Sometimes the situation calls for players like Dez to raise their voice. Most good teams usually have a few vocal leaders who aren't afraid to air out the team when they are underperforming.
Aikman did it. Irvin did it. Haley did it. Tom Brady does it regularly.
Yet for some reason whenever Dez does it it's frowned upon. I guess they'd prefer that it come from our team "leaders", Romo, Witten, and Garrett. Those 3 guys are lead by example guys. There's nothing wrong with that leadership style, but sometimes just leading by example doesn't work. There are occasions when you need to raise your voice to let all parties know that what they're doing or not doing is unacceptable.
Unfortunately whenever one of our guys tries to step into that role and provide some vocal leadership they get shouted down by the media, and the following day first 20 minutes of every ESPN show is spent breaking down Player X's "meltdown" and denouncing him for it.
Meanwhile that same afternoon Tom Brady has a similar "meltdown" with his teammates and not a word is said about it. Because when he does it it's "leadership".
