I will tell you this, they way he tilts his head on the strike, that's not a good thing. A good OL will take that lean and use it against him. He will end up in the stands if he continues to do that. He's going to be off balance and it won't take much to use that against him. JMO

That's Marinelli coaching him up...Wanna bet?

Was that Street Fighter or a workout?

I think Bosa will have a long career, but I'm not sold on him as a 15 sack guy year in and year out. I don't doubt his hassle or drive one bit though.

Anybody else find themselves coming around on Bosa? The more I read, the more I feel this guy is somehow getting underrated. It doesn't seem to be hurting his public draft projections, but he's universally listed as a top-5 player and he's pretty much the guy nobody seems to want. The more it goes on, the more it gets me thinking he's a value player who's not getting respect because he lacks flash in terms of sack numbers. It's kind of got me rooting for him, Ohio State or no.

No, not at all.

I'm a big believer in bloodlines. And Bosa's father, John, was one of the biggest stiffs that was drafted by Shula during the Dolphins down stretch of the 80's. His uncle, Eric Kumerow, was very much the same.

Watching Bosa in college shows a guy who makes a lot of plays on strength and handwork. The second part will do him well in the pros. The first will be negated once he isn't facing the RT from Clown State every week. Bosa also played LE, which is interesting when you consider that after Noah Spence was kicked off the team, Bosa stayed as LE. Makes you wonder about his athleticism.

The drug rumors are another reason to stay away. For me, I see a guy who will be workmanlike, but not a star. At #4, I want a star, and I just don't see it with Joey Bosa.

Think he could create more havoc if they slid him inside or had him stunt. If they do take him, which I would rather have someone else, I hope he commands enough attention with double or triple teams that at the very least it opens up some things for others.
I think Cedric Thornton is the key to the whole defensive line getting better anyway. I believe we will see the player that we thought Tyrone Crawford was, and Bosa, if he will look better as a result too. I do wonder about the slow play on Jack Crawford though.

Does the guy shows up on tape? If the answer is yes then pick him. I'd go back to the tape to evaluate all these guys. Having said that, do we like a QB enough in the 2nd or 3rd round to afford to pass on either Goff or Wentz? To me that's the bigger issue. Yes we need rushmen, but we're nowhere if Romo goes down again.

No need for me to come around, I have liked the kid since day one. People have thrown every excuse in the book out there not to take him (not athletic, no burst, pot head etc) and every time he comes back and blows up a workout. I agree with the analysis that he may never be a premier edge rusher, but this kid is going to wreak all sorts of havoc on offensive lines and in backfields.

Does Billings have enough disruption to play 3DT kicking Crawford outside [his original position]
If a trade down can be made that gives you a better line.

Lawrence,Thornton,Billings,Crawford; or
Lawrence,Thornton,Crawford,Bosa
and an extra 2nd,just wondering

He's got that "Jared Allen" craziness to him. If he can play anything close to Allen he'll be a fine selection.

Even after all of the scrutiny and dissection, most of the talking heads still can't drop him in their player rankings.

Kiper (ESPN)
1. Tunsil
2. Ramsey
3. *Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State Buckeyes

This draft isn't short on pass-rushers, but I still think if it's third-and-8 and you just need to go for a guy most likely to get to the quarterback, I'd go with Bosa. He's the most complete D-lineman in the draft if you place a high value on rush skills but don't want to sacrifice elsewhere.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Scout Inc

1. Joey Bosa* DE Ohio State 96
2.
Laremy Tunsil* OT Mississippi 95
3.
DeForest Buckner DE Oregon 95
4.
Jalen Ramsey* CB Florida St 94
--------------------------------------------------------------
McShay (ESPN)
1. Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State (Grade: 96)
2.
Laremy Tunsil, OT, Mississippi (95)
3.
DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon (95)

Bosa has been in the No. 1 position all season, and I see no reason to change that now. He plays with exceptional technique and effort. And while Bosa may lack elite speed, he's a dominant player on the field.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Daniel Jeremiah (NFL)
1. Tunsil
2. Ramsey
3. Jack
4. Joey Bosa - DE, Ohio State: Bosa was a three-year starter at defensive end for the Buckeyes. Against the run, he has a quick punch to shock blockers before shedding and finding the ball. He is very consistent at holding the point of attack on the front side and he uses effort and quickness to make plays on the back side. As a pass rusher, he lacks an elite burst but he generates a lot of pressure because of his athletic ability and technique. He has very quick hands and a variety of moves. He plays with excellent pad level and he can push the pocket with his bull rush. His effort is excellent. Overall, Bosa isn't dynamic but he is very athletic, disruptive and productive.

Me too....And you :hammer:

And that is what scares me. Always thought his Dad was a puffed up steroid freak...And wonder if that plays there too.

@ least it's part of the conversation....

Maybe the biggest reason I'm buying in...He has slid down and played some DT w/ some success.

I would think he'd move inside on the nickel to play tackle next to Crawford with Lawrence and Mayowa/Gregory on the outside.

I think he and Goff are the two most likely picks for us at this point, and of the top 4 candidates (with Wentz and Ramsey), Bosa'd be my last choice. But I still could see him coming in and being that surprisingly scrappy disruptive player for us that you look back on later and everybody scratches their head wondering why they didn't like him more in the first place.

I agree with your list. Have thought for a while now one of Goff, Wentz, Ramsey or Bosa will be the pick unless they trade down. Thats the order I would take them as well.

I love how people are using the fact that his father and uncle played in the NFL, but werent very good against him. So, by that line of thinking, all these kids who have never had a family member in the NFL are going to be total scrubs.

Easily the dumbest argument against a player.

Dell Curry was a middling NBA player but never great. Stephen Curry is the best player in the game hands down right now.

I'm not a big believer in bloodlines, per sec. He's not a race horse. I do believe having parents or family who've played in the league helps a player know how to do things right and helps them understand what's involved to be successful in the pros. That's a nurture argument, though, so it doesn't follow that Joey won't be any better than his father or uncle just because of his gene pool.

The guy has immediate family that played in the league and somehow that's a negative as far as bloodlines go. That makes absolutely no damn sense. Many these guys don't know their fathers and another big portion have fathers in prison or scurting the law. I don't see anyone chirping about their "negative bloodlines" or some ridiculous mumbo jumbo about that.

I agree with you, even if his father and uncle were the biggest busts ever, the guy has more knowledge about what to expect and better bloodlines than 99% of the rest of the kids in the draft whose family have never even sniffed professional sports.

If the league changed it's drug policy to remove Marijuana, I might warm up to him (not really, I want to trade up for Wentz :)). We have Gregory who is actually more of the talent we need off the edge and allows Lawrence to continue his development @ LE. Screams need pick to me and short term thinking.
