"We're obviously so excited about the progress that Jaylon's making," Stephen Jones said. "We've actually had a report since the press conference and it's even more encouraging in terms of the progress that he's making. I really do think he has -- it's in God's hands in terms of how you heal medically, but -- a great opportunity to really start to have full regeneration as we close in on the season. Of course he's doing some incredible work out here already, with it not 100 percent. He's making huge jumps from each test, from each week in terms of the progress he's making.

"It's certainly encouraging where he's going. I think he's going to make a big difference for our football team this year before it's all said and done."

This guy is essentially our first round pick this upcoming season.

Smith may have been a reach last season BUT...if these medical reports are true, he would surely be worth the 28th pick a year later.

So...just imagine we have an extra first, fourth(Tapper) and sixth(Rico) going in tonight and you are guaranteed not to be letdown :-D

If I could give you 5 stars, I would.

What is full nerve regeneration and how does it compare to what he had before? Dumb question I'm just trying to get a picture of the timeline we'd be looking at where he is 100% healed with no brace

If we come away with two starters for this year's defense in the next three days, we will be a freaking machine.

no timeline available, but you can see that the recovery is accelerating - which is 'typical'.
there is still no guarantee he will be 100% healed and not need the brace.
however, all the stuff coming out now seems to point to a very good recovery (knock on wood).

what probably happened is that the FO was holding back on a lot of news over the last few months - refusing to tell us when the initial 'firing' happened.
now that they think the recovery is going well, the news comes out in a deluge.

after this huge around of news, dont be disappointed if jaylon is still wearing a brace in 2 months.
this stuff takes time.
also this may be predraft damage control if we do not get the passrusher we want.

We came away with two last season without even trying (Collins and Brown).

Let's hope that just isn't dumb luck and we are onto something.

Something I noticed last season that, at least to me, seemed to be a different approach compared to past seasons was the fact the team seemed to focus on big school players. It seems at times in the past we seemed to roll the dice more with small school players, hopefully we focus on big school players over the weekend because I feel they tend to be more NFL ready.

I'm not a quasi-doctor, but 'full regeneration' is when the nerve regenerates completely. What he had before was what we call 'partial regeneration,' which just means incomplete regeneration.

As far as a timetable goes, I'd imagine it'll be sooner rather than later. Maybe some of the other guys who also know about this stuff can fill you in. You're welcome.
