I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely. Everyone even remotely involved in the league knows Dallas needs pass rushers and secondary help.
so the day of the draft, we make sure to let people know Jaylon is healthy

look - I prefer to think we have a clue - it does us no good to provide accurate news to other gm's today. So either we are idiots - which is highly plausible - or this is a smoke screen

It's possible the timing of this news is completely unrelated to the draft. I expect it's likely. The guy was asked a question and he answered it. It's not like he called a news conference or sent a press release.

or they are doing damage control early if we do not nail down a passrusher

Jaylon had a test yesterday with his doctors and that is where this update is coming from...

The media that keeps reporting he's gonna have to play with a brace have no understanding of how this recovery works.

He will wear the brace throughout the process of regaining strength and stability at the neuromuscular junction, but in time it will eventually get back to 100%... and that could easily happen by training camp. Hence Jerry telling everyone at the press conference, "don't assume he will need it to start the season".

I understand letting out misinformation before the draft, but to introduce lies about a current player's injury progress when the entire fanbase has been hanging on every word about him, seems like a douchey thing to do.

No no ....... its just strategy see ....... it somehow important to let the other GMs of the league think Jaylon is healed when in fact he is not ........ draft strategy and all ........

no no, it serves our interests to let other teams know everything possible about our team today.

so everything said today is correct - because - you read it today.

don't question what is said at all today - no reason to think they would be less then honest.

it's fluff.

that isn't even medical news, I get why some posters run with this though.

It's double-reverse psychology, state that everything is alright and other teams should not fear you're taking a linebacker, then they will think you're lying and fear you're taking a linebacker, but it reality everything is indeed alright and you're not planning on taking a linebacker.

Then of course there is the double-double reverse psychology,,,

Dallas isn't particularly in the market for a LB anyway. I could get behind the misinformation better if it were a case of the team having to take a LB if Smith isn't healthy but as it is, nobody really expects Dallas to take a LB early.

Just seems like an odd smokescreen to throw out there. Unnecessary even. I see no benefit either way.

If we come away with two starters for this year's defense in the next three days, we will be a freaking machine.
I don't see us coming away with any defensive starters, but we should get contributors who might be future starters.

Other than Miles Garrett and Solomon Thomas, I don't see a DE on the draft board who'd walk in as a starter over DLaw, Mayowa, Irving, and Tapper. I do see some guys who might get reps in the rotation and a chance to prove something.

I also don't see any CB's guaranteed to start ahead of the experience we have in Scandrick, Carroll, or Brown, but I do see plenty of guys who are capable of starting if one of these guys gets nicked in preseason, and certainly a future starter.

I really think the value will be at CB at 28....I don't want to reach for a project DE if Awuze, Humphrey, or White are available...all good, solid CBs who can cover and support the run. You don't need a CB at 28, but I think it's unlikely to find a DE starter there, whereas I don't want a project at CB if Scandrik or Carroll go down.
