Jernigan, Brooks, Telvin Smith, Joyner, Christian Jones....a lot of potential help for us there.

Terrence Brooks > Joyner at FS. Joyner is more of a playmaker and better at 1 on 1 coverage, but Brooks is a really smart and the true CF type of FS we need. In my opinion at least....

Joyner is twice the playmaker Brooks is and it is not even close.

We really need a smart quarterback type free safety, someone who can get everyone lined up properly. I dont know if thats Brooks or not but I hope we ae looking for someone.

I acknowledged that....but can he stay in position and play as smart as Brooks does? I don't think so. I don't think it's a coincidence that Brooks started at FS over Joyner at FSU. Joyner can be a very useful player in the NFL no doubt, I just don't think he's an every down FS like Brooks can be.

Joyner is a playmaker that you make room and a role for despite his size. Not much different than Mathieu. I get what you are saying about Brooks, but I am taking the bigger playmaker who can play the slot etc.

Wouldn't it be kind of hard to find that role though? Are you bumping Scandrick out of his role as slot CB for a rookie? Are you trusting a kid that is 5'8 with only marginal speed in a deep zone by himself at FS? There's definitely a role for a kid like Joyner on an NFL roster....I just think he would fit a lot better on a team that doesn't play a very vanilla tampa 2. Creativity and Cowboys coaches just don't seem to go together very well

Joyner got moved to CB not because Brooks was better it was because they wanted to get there best combination of players on the field together. It was because Joyner is versatile enough to play both positions effectively that he was moved, not for a deficiency at one or the other.

I'm scared to draft any player that's on a loaded defense like FSU had especially when they play in the ACC. Sometimes good players look great because they are around alot of good players.

Alabama the last few years for example has a great defense because of alot of good players but non are real great by themselves

That one of the reasons not to put much stock into college stats. Just watch the player and his individual matchups.

Right which is what the scouts are supposed to do. I like Smith as a WOLB but not before Tripp or before the 3rd round. Maybe even 4th depending on who is there.
I also like Brooks but with his speed I think he will go 2nd due to a weak safety class. I have Brooks as a 3rd rounder.
I like Jernigan as a 1 tech but wouldn't take him at 16. I have him as a 2nd rounder.
Don't see Christian jones being able to help this team. Need speed on this scheme.
Joyner is a guy that seems to be in the right spot always. I think he can be a great nickel back but that's about it. To small to match up on TEs and WRS outside. Might be able to play zone corner. He reacts to the ball very well and fast.
