The Cowboys have restructured the contract of All-Pro linebacker Sean Lee, creating a little more than $5 million in room with the free-agent market set to open Thursday, according to sources. The move bumps the Cowboys' cap space up to close to $9 million. It is the third restructure the Cowboys have done in the last few weeks, joining Tyron Smith and Travis Frederick.

Well at least it gives them some room to talk to a player or two. I'd guess it's ticketed to keeping our own rather than signing someone else's.

What's it going to be then, eh?

You got it Stash. Stephen shops for groceries in our own store not someone else's culls. If we come up short in a couple of weeks
we might rummage through the garbage bin again to fill any remaining holes. We are very likely to lose 4 or 5 of our starter FA's in the
next few days.

When Dallas drafts the way they have been, losing starters doesnt hurt you come the new season. When Dallas was spending big in Fa people complained. Now Dallas would rather resign their own FAs and draft well and people still complain. Fans are never happy.

I'm totally expecting that.

And I'm fine with losing Terrance Williams, Barry Church, or Jack Crawford.

Just do it all at once one time...... Dez-9, TCrawford-5, Free(cut)-5, Romo-13= 42m in space

Puts a whole new perspective on things
but they won't because they aren't stupid.
some of those guys are one injury-plagued season away from being released.
and they are begging Free to not retire.
42m in space is not a new perspective, it's stupid.

Significant cap savings going forward would have to come from Dez/Crawford/Romo......$9 Million isn't enough to compete for much, even in terms of retaining our own

Who said I'm unhappy. McClay picks over the potentials and Stephen watches the cash register. Cowboys showing financial restraint...
What a novel idea.

I would definitely not restructure Crawford but they can get to the same number by extending Witten instead.

Also I don't think they need that much space, its easier to just structure the contracts to have a small hit in 2017 with a much bigger hit in 2018.

Either way, I agree they have the cap space to do whatever they want.
