With Mickey covering documentary on Cowboys starting out in early 1960's. Tex Schramn building the cowboys, while Calvin hill gives his thoughts on the cowboys teams, Calvin Hill was there in the late 60's and early 70's. Bob Lily talks about next year champions, while showing Don Meredith losing a big game. Leading up to the famous ice bowl, with Bob LIly digging in at the ice bowl. Then going to Colts beating Cowboys final 9 seconds in the superbowl in 1970.

Lee Roy Jordan saying that we gave the game away. So, the Cowboys got together and saying they can win it all, even though the pressure was building from fans, and media. LIly said negative congentation, not knowing really unless your a football player what it means to really lose.

Now to next year's champions, in the Saints game where the Cowboys were leading. So, Lee Roy said the Cowboys challenged each other, and called for closed meeting, and after that, every practice was a full speed game, making the cowboys better as a team. I have touched on this some in some posts. Calvin Hill talking bout the dual role of Morton and Staubach both playing. Lily said you knew that you needed a leader at QB no matter what. Which some players wanted Craig Morton and some for Staubach. Mel Renfro said he didnt like it the 2 quarterback decison by Landry, when Landry was using the two quarterback shuffle.

Lee Roy was chosen the leader to go tell Landry pick one guy to lead us. Then, Calvin hill said after Landry chose Staubach everyone rallied behind STauabch, and perform the dallas cowboys team did, with one of the greatest runs in NFL history. Showed some footage of Staubach and running by Dorsett, etc.

MIckey on continiing on next years champions, rayfield wright said we knew with 10 and 4 they knew they would be in the playoffs. Lilly says we were foucused, with bob hayes catching some passes, lance alwoth catchinga a big pass, and Bob LIly said we went after the win and expected it, to win. I rememeber one of the defenders said only way someone was going to score on the Cowboys was over dead bodies. Thats the swagger and killer instinct and confidence. Just like when Jimmy Johson said, you will win, and chad hennings said Jimmy Johnson instilled in us that we would win and win we did. You have to have that confidence, and attitude, which the Cowboys in 1971 showed.

The cowboys did have some fun and games, lily and calvin hill saying they did with some different nicknames for everyone, howley was called bunny i believe, lee roy jordan was killer, green was big money, jethro pugh was buzzard, hayes would take naps in meeting rooms, while landy wasnt amused. Bob Hayes made some shirt up wiht a red cross like on it,, not to be hit. Garrison was named pudding. Some of this was covered in the cowboys countdown to kickoff. Duane Thomas was called the spinx.

Which a lot of players covered how duane thomas wouldnt talk to the players, for 6 weeks at a time, but as long as duane played hard, the cowboys players had no trouble with him.

Showing renfro coming onto the field, and no hurrah, but take it like business like, and no talkign, or patting each other, but like was cold blooded lily said, and one player said we knew we could win.

Big iron miike dikta getting a touchdown pass, and morton saying to landry what do you think coach.

Landry with bob lily accetping lombardi trophy, and landry saying glad we all are here, with going through tough times and the lean years, landry said he was glad for guys like lily, etc.

rayfield wright said was special for landry too, and such a lift lee roy said, that removed all those heartaches and tough times. LIly said, no matter what it was, we now had respect from the other teams. Putting the ghost of cant win the big one behind the cowboys players, is what a lot of players said meant alot to them.
