As recently explained by Jeff Mosier of theDallas Morning News, the possibility of Cowboys playoff games in January could create a logistical issue at AT&T Stadium, where the first ever college football playoff championship game will be played on January 12.

With the NFL’s divisional round set for January 10 and 11, the turnaround from the NFL playoff game to the NCAA title game could be as short as one day. The plans initially called for the NCAA playoff apparatus to take control of the stadium on January 2, one day after the Cotton Bowl. Now the 10 days for preparing could shrink, considerably.

It'd be pretty awesome to see back:back like that, though, you'd have to admit.

They say that Jerry might have to pay something extra to offset some extra costs that will be incurred. They said that there is a parking lot with a tunnel directly into the stadium. Networks and whoever would setup in this parking lot until after the 1st event and then quickly move into the stadium.

I really fail to see how this is an issue.

Florio being Florio.

Actually Florio is blogging this from an article in the Dallas Morning News. The full article details the logistical issues that would come into play...

A day turnaround is very possible.

Let's actually make the playoff first though. After this week, only half the season will be over.

If the Cowboys have a home playoff game that weekend, couldn't they just schedule the game for the 10th instead of the 11th? That would give them an extra day to prepare for the college game and whatever teams they swap with shouldn't complain since they get an extra day of preparation. Of course, their opponent might not be too happy.

I'm sure the proceeds from an unplanned playoff game will make that an easy pill to swallow :D

Stadiums routinely host a college game and an NFL game only a day or two apart. But in Dallas, where one of the most embarrassing incidents in recent NFL history unfolded when the league was unable to install temporary seats for which tickets had been sold, it’s probably unwise to assume that everything will go smoothly.
He cites one operational failure and infers a high probability another operational failure of the same magnitude will automatically occur as a consequence. He's right. Who learns from mistakes like that? Shoot. To this day, I still do not understand why Jerry Jones was sipping Johnnie Walker Blue Label while hurriedly installing those extra stadium seats for the Super Bowl all by himself. What the heck was he thinking? Half of the seats ended up facing backwards, sheesh.

Mike Florio can kiss my black hey I think I will try the grill tilapia for lunch today. Yum.

And everybody thought Jerry was just drunk when he sent out the playoff tickets in advance. ;)

When millions and millions of dollars are involved, you'll hire the necessary personnel and make sure that the stadium is ready to host both events.
Who is to say the preparations have not already been conceived and ready for implementation?

I hate hearing all of this speculation. Let's wait until we see what happens. The Boys could end up 12-4, 11-5, 10-6 and be a wilcard

Didn't Arkansas and A&M play at AT&T the day before the Saints game.

But even that same article goes into detail on what needs to be done. They can have their plan in place before the theoretical Cowboys game and then get to work immediately after it ends and have the stadium ready to go. It happens all the time across the country, I have zero doubt that it can be done with time to spare in Arlington.

Temporary seating at the Super Bowl has zero to do with this.
