From the article:

"Through week 16, five of the six most-popular games featured “America’s Team” and its rookie stars, rushing leader Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott, according to ESPN. In the second half of the season, the Cowboys averaged 23.7 million viewers -- more than last year’s World Series (23.4 million) and NBA Finals (20.2 million), according to data from Fox, which carried Dallas games the most. Late-season games showed double-digit gains."

America's Team, boiiii

Interesting for the conspiracy theorists out there. NFL ratings were all doom and gloom until our shocking win over Green Bay set the league on fire.

That's exactly what I was saying when I was making the case for them to be NFL CO-MVP's. yes, I realize that it's not the criteria used to judge most valuable, but still....

I stated my case to Rick Eisen but he's all over Matt Ryan.

They may not be the MVP OF the NFL, but they certainly are MVP's FOR the NFL.

The Dallas Cowboys, you might love them or you might hate them but, either way, you want to watch them. One emotion you don't get from NFL fans when it comes to the Cowboys is indifference.

As Millennials become a larger and larger portion of the target audience, the NFL is going to see further ratings drops. They better find a way to bring them into the fold, or they will have issues with their networks.

Good, then Goodell owes us one and not suspend Gregory for a year.

Which makes it all the more perplexing why they wouldn't postpone any decision on Gregory until after the season. If it's in the best interest of the league to have the Cowboys advance in the playoffs, why would you do something that lessens their chances of advancing.

Yeah I don't get this. I'm a millennial and myself and all of my friends are huge NFL fans.

I do think the NFL would benefit from a great cowboys team that is in playoff contention every year. I love Romo and his era but the playoff births were not consistent and a lot of the reasons were out of his control. I envy teams like the Patriots, Steelers, Packers and even the Seahawks as of late that tend to be playing around this time EVERY season. NFL needs that from this franchise to put together a younger fan base, younger than the millennialist.

Millenials consist of a lot of 90s cowboy fans, I grew up watching those teams, the younger generations need more cowboy fans.

good point. they could start with allowing TD celebrations provided they aren't bluntly mocking or derrogatory. Let them have little props like a pylon or a football or a goal post or a salvation army bucket.

The NBA is handling it right. They let their players colors show a little. NFL is just way to uptight. They need to loosen up.

Interesting!

Myself I think the NFL is too broad and too many people are involved (and have to keep quiet both publicly and privately) to really "fix the NFL".

But the television perfect storylines throughout history are interesting. A rookie backfield beating starting their own dynasty by overtaking arguably the best dynasty ever(Patriots) would be one of those epic storylines.

Personally, I would relish in a Cowboys Super Bowl even if it is fixed.

This is why I laugh about all the conspiracy theorist Cowboy fans who think that Goodell and Mara is out to get the Cowboys. If anything, fans of other teams have a better argument when they say the nfl is out to help us. Lol

As a millennial (though on the older end of the generation), I feel the biggest issue with the current product are the constant commercial breaks almost anytime there is even the slightest break in action. That needs to stop. In today's age, younger viewers largely no longer have the patience for any ads, much less the bombardment of commercial breaks in an NFL game.
