The Dallas Cowboys are arranging a closer look at two intriguing possibilities to play behind one of the NFL's elite offensive lines: Derrick Henry and Connor Cook.
Either could make sense for Dallas on the second day of the draft, on which the Cowboyswill make the Nos. 34 and 67 overall picks, barring a trade. Coach Jason Garrett hasconfirmed the club's need for a young quarterback to groom behind veteran Tony Romo, and club owner Jerry Jones told NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt that the Cowboys won't make that move in the first round. If the second round is the right time, however, Cook could be the fit. He is regarded as the No. 40 overall talent in the draft by NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks.

How would you guys feel about Henry in the 2nd and Cook in the 3rd?

We essentially had Wentz for a week long visit as well.

As much as I like Elliott, I doubt the Cowboys take him. I'm about 85 percent certain that if the Broncos or Panthers don't take Derrick Henry, he's going to be wearing a star.

Elliott would be your super uber back, the do everything back. But picking him would mean you won't get a premium defensive player at the top of the draft.

Let's say Ramsey is available, we could pick him and then Henry in the second. I would really hate for us to pick Bosa, but just looking at the position, we have a need to solidify our defensive line so if you can get a pass rusher/run stopper like Bosa (cough, cough) and pick up a grinder like Henry, you've not only take the Cowboys back to their 2014, you've improved their 2014 defense.

This, of course, assumes that the negatives both Bosa and Henry have don't become legitimate concerns.

But if the draft shakes out this way ...

1st Bosa, DE
2nd Henry, RB
3rd Burns/Joseph, CB/SS (probably won't drop but who knows)
4th Cook, QB
4th Best Available DT

I could live with that. That would be a pretty nice haul with the potential of all except Cook getting significant playing time.

1- Bosa
2- Henry
3- Cook

I don't think it's possible, but I'd love it. I think Conner Cook is the second best QB in this draft. Arm Talent, he might be the best.

Ok. I have to ask.........how did you arrive at 85%?

I prefer to think of this as Dallas throwing other teams off their trail at 4.

With the abject failures of Brad Johnson, Brandon Weeden, Matt Cassel, and Stephen McGee, plus Romo completely falling in their lap as an UDFA, plus looking at Cook and Prescott, it's possible Dallas just doesn't know how to scout QBs.

Concerning for the future. I'm not sure Wade Wilson would know what to do with a QB were we to draft one high.

It's just an arbitrary number. I was merely trying to convey that I think it's a strong possibility that Henry will be the pick. I would have picked 80 percent, but I chose 85.

And I say this because ... when the Cowboys bring someone in for a private intervie, that generally means they're showing interest in that player and could possibly take them. I think this will be the case in Henry's case because ... we really need a running back because ... we need a YOUNG running back because ... we need a bell cow back and because ... Henry has the kind of attitude I could see fitting in Dallas.

If there's one knock on Elliott, it's his "me-attitude" as exhibited after the Michigan State game. While that's not a great concern (at least to me), it still a knock when comparing him to Henry, a back who should have started full-time in the 2014 season but who kept his mouth shut and waited his turn.

Thanks. I thought it was the result of some complex algorithm you created. :)

Why?

It's really not my first choice, but I'm projecting based on how it seems the Cowboys are leaning by their private interviews.
Because that draft contains two players that I think stink. Henry and Cook. If we draft them I will hope I am wrong and root for them.

I'm not sold on Henry in round two, especially with soooooo many running backs available and the mileage on those ham hocks.
Love the idea of Prosise in round four and someone like Ervin in the sixth.

I don't see Procise lasting until the fourth.

there is no ambiguity in my mind.they have ignored the the best Qb in my mind and gone after guys who wont even be backups in the NFL.
