Yes and no. A good QB will negate your pass rush with a quick drop and a quicker release. That task becomes exponentially easier when you've got JAGS at the CB position. Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady have been using this method for years to measured success.

Yes a pass rush helps your CBs and Ss but the premise that a good pass rush completely negates the need for top shelf secondary play is patently false.

But with quick dumps and dinks, you can keep everybody in front of you and the LBers and secondary can tackle em for 5 yards instead of giving up the 60 yarder we do so often with the anemic pass rush we have.If the QB knows hes got 3 seconds or less on almost every play hes not going to be looking for Julio Jones/AJ Green downfield. That makes a stout D line priority. Much like the Oline makes a good back look way better, a good pass rush makes the secondary look way better. That and keeping the D off the field with a great running game will make this D a top 10 D. You cant ignore the secondary, there are good Olines that an stalemate a good D line and thats where you need a good secondary, but there are only 3-5 Olines like that in the league, and we have one of them. My moneys on the trenches. I've said that since before el dorado was signed regarding the Oline, it applies to the D lines as well.

All of this is true and I'm with you on bolstering the trenches. However, quick offenses have been eating up those LBs and secondaries for years. The Patriots alone have used this method for the better part of a decade and a half. Very few teams have had success in stifling them for more than a game at a time. RAC yards in quick hit systems produce much better than "5 yards" and have for quite some time. That's why they are still around. Again, I'm with you in the "strong trenches" philosophy. I also believe in a solid shelf secondary. Actually, the most solid defenses are the ones that are balanced at both ends. A weak pass rush and a strong secondary is a failure. A strong pass rush and a weak secondary is also a failure. The most successful defenses aren't dominant on either side of the equation but rather balanced and solid in both, it seems.

Still think he goes to the Jets.

If the interest is there from the Cowboys, seems he will be here.

Cromartie is all smiles talking about the cowboys on first take.

Said he made his money, wants to win a championship.

is building house in Texas, childhood dream to play for dallas

That would be interesting signing. Also saw from Todd Archer they had some interest in Patrick Robinson from the Saints. Former 1st rounder who hasn't quite lived up to expectations.

Cromartie & Carr are both good press corners, allowing the d-line another second to get to the QB with a great slot corner like Scandrick.. I'm all for signing him to a 2 year deal.

We wouldn't be paying him huge money so I don't know why you're saying overrated, he is a solid CB.. Time and time again the Arizona D-Coordinator put Peterson & Cromartie on an island by themselves, sending pressure & they won their 1 on 1..

Cromartie is not looking for a small deal. If he was, he would stay in Arizona. Think about this - he's looking to leave Arizona, and they aren't exactly killing themselves to keep him. The Jets, who had the worst corner situation in the league, let Cromartie go as well. What does that tell you? Cromartie is an overrated player. Always has been.
