Do Rbs really benefit from the practice squad? or is this, once a RB is seriously injured, you keep 1 or 2 to replace them for the season?

Cowboys signed RB Gus Johnson to the practice squad.

Johnson is not flashy, but he is a solid back who could get the job done in a pinch. He will be a name to remember if the Cowboys' backfield runs into injury trouble this season.

Wow! What an awesome day! I'm a HUGE fan of allowing him to develop on our PS. Another great move today... Someone pinch me please.

Now if I could only see some Showers PS news.... I might go skydiving.

Jeez -- between Gus Johnson and Christine Michael, sure sounds like they've got this RBBC thing covered. :)

Being in the practice squad will help him, I feel like he will end up going up incase of an injury but to spend the year on the team and next offseason will do wonders to his development coming out of a D2 school.

That's what I'm thinking as well. Especially when you hear about the massive physical improvement some players make from year one to two, just because of being in a professional strength and conditioning program. When you think about what he likely had access to in a D2 school he's likely to got a lot stronger and more explosive in a year with the Cowboys.
