Cowboys source, Cowboys close to deal with Osa $21 Million a year

-Jerry absolutely now considers the position fixed, and that part is the biggest crime here.
Historically

But let's actually wait and see. Most had Osa gone last week. But that's just this fanbases miserable mind state

Signing Osa before Parsons especially to a lucrative deal like this should be a slap in the face to Parsons. I wouldn't be happy at all, especially when Micah has said when the season ended he's ready to get the deal done and doesn't want to wait.
smh

I BET Micah would've been more disappointed if they let Osa walk

Dosent he disappear every year after late November? If I'm not mistaken before last season I don't think he's ever recorded a sack after week 11.
The only year he really wore down was his rookie year, and honestly I think he got more exposed than anything as teams started play him differently.

2022 - In on 3 sacks week 11+, 21 total pressures the 2nd half of the year per PFF (38 for the year on 402 snaps)
2023 - In on 0 sacks week 11+, 22 total pressures the 2nd half of the year per PFF (44 for the year on 372 snaps)
2024 - In on 4 sacks week 11+, 39 total pressures the 2nd half of the year per PFF (60 for the year on 523 snaps)

His counting stats are better this year, but I think its largely because Zimmer didn't rotate him out nearly as much as DQ did so got more snaps. All his metrics (win rate, double team rate, pressure rate, etc.) have been pretty consistent the last few years and dont see much of a drop off between the 1st half and 2nd half of the season.

I know the player - Bill Parcells
That’s exactly the influence it was…”the devil you know,” and that stuck….to a fault. Same place the repeated second round tight end strategy came to be.

hE'S been a good/solid player his entire career
This defense has gotten stomped against the run since he has been here. He isn’t the answer to fix that but will now be treated that way due to his paycheck. I paid you…now go be Chris Jones. That’s Jerry’s way of thinking.

The reality is.. Most NFL DTs suck.

He’s better than average by a little so he will get paid.
This is what I was thinking as well. How many teams do you know of who are heralded for their dominant DT play? 7? Less?

Cowboys either let Osa walk and have the worst interior Dline they’ve ever had, or outbid the bad teams so they can maintain there and add talent elsewhere.

Still, 23m$ is the franchise tag. 21m$ makes Osa a near franchise level DT? Maybe they did it because they don’t want to be forced to go DT early in the draft

That's fair.

Now get a big body next to him that can plug holes and demand double teams as opposed to half attention mazi gets...we have start of something good
Bingo. If you really want to fix the interior go get an upgrade to Mazi and let him be the rotational guy. Bringing back OSA is fine, but this needs to be the start of a flurry of moves even if not huge names.

We need fat oak trees across the dline. That's how you bully teams in Jan. It won't do a darn thing for us in the post season if we draft a skill position guy at 12. Just won't. Unless it's a RB . Which I can't see.
