Cowboys spotlight on Commanders safety DeAngelo Hall
...Strengths: Hall earned comparisons to Deion Sanders out of college. He was expected to become a top-flight, shut-down cornerback, and at times in his career, he looked the part. He has 43 career interceptions, 10 forced fumbles, 128 pass breakups and five touchdowns. But he remained maddeningly inconsistent for most of his career at cornerback. For several seasons, he was among the most targeted corners in the league. When quarterbacks targeted Hall, it frequently resulted in a big play one way or the other. He always has played with confidence, unafraid to challenge the league’s top receivers both verbally and physically.
Weaknesses: Father Time seems to have caught Hall, once a 4.35 speedster. He had a partial ligament tear in his toe in Week 3 and lost his job at cornerback while rehabbing. Hall tore an Achilles’ tendon last season, missing 13 games. The Commanders moved him to strong safety, and he started there Sunday, playing 48 of 69 snaps. This could be his last season.
Last week: Hall made four tackles in the Commanders’ 20-14 victory over the New York Giants.
Who he has to stop? Dez Bryant has not been himself this season. He has only 23 catches for 280 yards and two touchdowns. The Cowboys’ other starting wideout, Terrance Williams, has only 33 catches for 491 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Jason Witten is the team’s leading receiver with 55 catches for 508 yards and two touchdowns, and slot receiver Cole Beasley has made 39 receptions for 392 yards and three scores...
