They should put him on short term IR, you need that roster spot available for a player that can help you....

If they haven't decided then maybe someone still thinks he'll be ready in couple weeks. Jerry hitting the sauce again? Garrett hoping Romo comes back sooner to save his job?

Maybe this is in correlation with making more cap room. They might be after a back-up QB and if they land him, then Romo goes to IR.

They will roll him out in a wheelchair for week 1. Decked out in his uniform.

Carry him on the roster and don't place him on IR. Should he be able to come back in 6 weeks that would be Game 5 of the 2016 season.

The diagnosis for his injury is all over the place. Could be 4-6 weeks. Could be 6-10 weeks. If they place him on IR and he returns after 8 weeks of the season which would be 9 weeks following the injury, then we know Rappaport was correct.

6 weeks would be game 4. So if it's 6, he could only miss 3 games. And of course Carr only missed 2, which would have Romo missing one game.

Maybe my math is fuzzy ChildsPlay. But Tony got hurt a week ago tomorrow which was around two weeks before the season opener. So week 1 would be two full weeks since the injury, week 2 would be 3 weeks since the injury and so on...that would mean game 5 or week 5 on the schedule would be 6 weeks from the time of injury right? Meaning he would miss 4 weeks of the regular season and be potentially ready for week 5 of the season.

I see Romo missing only three to five games. I read reports that said he'll start throwing again in a couple weeks and the area of the back he injured isn't affected by throwing motion anyway. Romo is not at any long term risk from this injury (I know, roll eyes here) and his pain tolerance is higher than the average joe. For these reasons I see Dallas keeping him on the active 53.

You're right. My bad.

Game 4 would be about 5.4 weeks.

They absolutely have to put him on the list, if for no other reason to avoid the temptation of rushing him back. Once he's on, he is ineligible to return for 6 weeks and, really, he should sit those 6 weeks. With this type of injury, rushing him back could really make things a lot worse.
I made the same mistake last week but the short term IR is 6 weeks before he can practice but a full 8 weeks until he can play......since DAL has a Bye Week 7, he could come back Week 9 but only miss 8 games....I think he misses every bit of 6 games so 1 extra game and 3 weeks of practice is worth using the IR....like you said, rushing him back is the worst case scenario
