Last season the Cowboys had a total of 41 sacks. This was the highest total of sacks since 2011. In the 2014 season the sacks went as low as 28.

Last week against the Vikings, they increased their season total to 42. After tonight, it stands as 45.

The Cowboys have not had these many sacks since the late 2000's in the days of DeMarcus Ware, Greg Ellis, and Jay Ratliff.

Last season Parson's total sacks were 13. he now has 12 with six games left.

Remember how we lamented the departure of Gregory after he was 2nd in sacks with six? Dorance Armstrong now has 8.....with six games left.

Demarcus Lawrence 6

Dante Fowler 5

Rookie Sam Williams 3

Last season the Cowboys had six players with multiple sacks. So far this season they have eight.......and counting.

The team record was set in 1985 at 62 sacks.

Too Tall, Randy White, and Jim Jeffcoat all had 10+ sacks. Seven other players had multiple sacks.

The NFL record is 72 and was set by the 1984 Chicago Bears during the Ditka/Ryan years. In fact 3 of the top 10 highest seasons in sacks were the Bears in the 80's. The Cowboys top season of 1985 is in a three way tie for 11th best.

In order to break the team record, the defense would have to average 3 sacks a game for the remaining 6 games. So far, they have been averaging 4 sacks a game.

In order to establish a new NFL record they would have to average 4 1/2 sacks a game for the remaining six games.

Tank has been playing pretty well. But he went back on the back of a milk carton today. MIA.

He’s playing with a stress fracture so we may not see him at full strength all year. He should still finish with 8-10 sacks.

Not being greedy, I love the sacks but I miss getting turnovers like last year.

Home against Colts, Texans, at Jaguars. They may sack. Ryan 10 times .
Home against Eagles, I think they can get to Hurts a few times or so. Defense is playing better than that 1st game. Eagles do have a good OL though.
at Titans, is Tannenhill all that mobile?
Then who plays, Beer Guy or Wentz at Washington.

4.5 a tall order though.

I knew the league record
That is a tough one
But the team record could be doable

I don't want them chasing records if it stops other elements..........a solid run D for example.

I think we've created enough fear and respect around the league thus far so just stay in our lane.

Good stuff! Thanks for crunching the numbers… we are having a remarkable season!

To truly set the record, IMO we need 75+ sacks as we get an extra game to work with, and that would put us 3 over the previous mark.

Would be really tough to get that mark— but not impossible considering our schedule.
