Why? No matter what we twist it. It's still the same.

Hitchens, Lee, Gachkar and Wilbur are the only truly seasoned vets and some not so much. People are high on Nzeocha but he's an unknown as well. Same with Wilson. So picking up a known starter gives us two truly seasoned vets as well as Hitchens and Wilbur with Gachkar.

So I'm onboard with the consideration. My only caveat is doing it now (he may not last) vs waiting on a surprise or two on the current roster or even a better pickup later on with camp cuts.

I think they'd better make the decision now and if necessary reconsider later is someone better comes along.

Assuming the Cowboys re-sign Durant, I wonder who they cut to make room. If it's Rolando McClain, we know the team is finally serious about Jason Garrett's "Right Kind of Guys" coach-speak.

Has he been playing in the middle? I ask because I think they initially viewed him as a weakside backer IIRC. But I honestly haven't followed where he's been lining up recently.

IIRC I think the plan was to have him at weak side back when he was signed the first time, but he ended up playing better at the strong side. If memory serves, he was really good as a SAM. though he has some position flex. If nothing else, he can be better than Wilbur (who was average). Of course that was two years ago and may have lost a step or 3. I don't think he's a great option in the middle, which is what we need, but we may be penciling in (or penning in... is that word?) Hitchens to be the starting MLB and Durant would be signed as insurance.

We still need one more lb because between he and Ro that still only gives us about 12 games of a 16+ game season

Its funny were all getting excited about Durant as if he is an allpro. However, Im right there with everyone, would be a good signing. I was interested in bringing him back even before the Mcclain suspension. Best available option for the Cowboys at lb.

Garrett believes in the RKG. It's Jerry that is not fully on board.

This is the more interesting issue. Speculation that he'd be the WILL and Lee would go back in the middle. Maybe more about having someone aside from Lee who can play nickel. Young guys usually are better run than pass defenders.
