A number of tight ends, if given a chance, can produce. Remember Goeff Swaim. Jarwin will be alright as long as he stays healthy.

Yeah all we remember was seeing Richard Sherman highlights for a year amid the contract Hooplah and seeing that int against Jarwin 1k times. Is he gonna be the guy who can go up and get a ball and dominate at scoring or the checkdown take what the <.500 teams gives ya te like were accustomed to overutilizing??? If he is just another whitboy who cant jump we better be seeing more dual slot wrs or dual rbs.

That leave your 2 tes on the field on all passing downs has WORN OUT ITS WELCOME IN BIG D. WE DONT HAVE A GRONK AND HERNANDEZ SO wth does JJ let these tes dominate passing snaps if they HAVE NO DEEP BALL OR SCORING ABILITIES????

Until which time the boys get 6 Bonified skilled players on the field at one time on passing plays who can SCORE they arent going anywhere. THEY NEVER SCORE AGAINST ANY GREAT TEAMS JUST THE SCRUBS.

    COOPER 7-8 TDS

These are our top 3 wrs scoring averages. Most of these came against scrub team in our division. It was either feast or famine.
Look at the Best offenses and compare how they stack up against good teams. Fgs dont beat good teams. Lmao

I think he'll be fine. Needs to work on his blocking but as a receiver he's pretty much there.

I liked what little I saw from Jarwin. And yes, I do remember Hambrick. I remember frowning at the sight of him.

maybe they awarded Jarwin this contract with approval reviews and evaluations from coaches and scouts currently still on the staff and most familiar with
him and certainly confident enough in him to risk-award him long term.

Maybe it was Doug Nussemeier, his TE coach the last couple of years as well as McClay and his crew who found him as an undrafted rookie
Maybe that came to change the dynamics when Stephen thought a couple of years back that Cowboys needed to address the TE role even with Jarwin
    already on the roster.

If there's one thing that Jarwin has proven in his rare chances for glory, it's that he's able to rack up some very impressive YACs. I'm totally confident that that trend will continue. Perhaps Mr. Bell will likely be assigned to taking of the blocking duties these days.

The one thing to caution against is the belief I've seen people express in the past that you can extrapolate Jarwin's numbers from his limited role into what they would be if he had a larger role. I still think Jarwin will do a good job receiving for the Cowboys, but we do have to recognize that up to know opponents haven't likely put much emphasis on him in their game, and once he becomes the starter playing the majority of downs teams will be game planning for him.

To be clear, I'm not directing this at you, it's more of a general statement that in a bigger role he may have to work harder for his opportunities because teams will pay closer attention to him.

That's fair to say, in view of the fact that he'd been so rarely thrown to in the past with Witten available. I'm hopeful his talent will be sufficient enough for him to make the most of his opportunities to be a receiving threat. I think he should be able to overcome the extra attention he'll attract. If not, the Cowboys would surely have to seek help from others, as well. I wouldn't be too surprised if we drafted that good TE from Notre Dame.

I think there likely will be another TE brought in, either by free agency or the draft. I say this because both Schultz and Bell seem to be mostly blockers, and I expect they will want another receiver who can step into that role if Jarwin were to get hurt. Obvioiusly the best hope would be to have one TE that is well rounded as a blocker or receiver who can provide depth on both fronts.

Watching Witten in cement shoes last year was disturbing.

    Jarwin can actually run.

Dont ask me, because I wanted to sign a guy like Hooper and go in an Eagles type direction with 2 TEs and feature the running game...play keep away with this disgusting defense....but paying Cooper meant we will go the sell jerseys route.

But I see no issue with Jarwin or the money they gave him. The guy can play.

If Jarwin is to be used as a primary blocker as TE he will struggle if he is used to his strength as a receiver then I think he will have success. In a ball controlled offense TE has to be able to block

We all know Jarwin is the man. What's going to be frustrating is, his talent should have been exploited years ago, but Witt; the progress killer was here!

Never mind the fact that Jarwin does disappear from games and that he's subpar as a blocker.

Of course he disappeared from games. He only played about 30-35% of the snaps. Hard to be consistent while on the sideline 65-70% of the time.

If they play to Jarwin’s strengths they’ll get the most out of him.

The problem with the past coaching staff is that they tried to mold players into whatever position prototype they created in their heads specifically at the TE position.

That was more desperation of seeing anyone but old Emmitt getting carries.

Difficult? Well, Rico Gathers is still a free agent. :muttley:

Remember when some swore the Patriots would pick up Rico and turn him into a Pro Bowler? Good times.

Jarwin could be in top 5 of TE’s receiving yards-wise with right playcalling. The Giants game wasn’t an accident.

Witten didn’t set the lineup. Blame it on the coaches.
