Cowboys TE Blake Jarwin Facing a “Difficult” Season?

*(an important change meeting our eyes)

...Jason Witten back in 2019, Jarwin didn’t get the playing time many hoped him to, leaving doubts as to whether or not he’s starting material. However, the front office signed him to a four-year contract, securing him through 2024.

Jarwin has shown impressive flashes in his few opportunities to do so and it’s not hard to expect a breakout season from him. While his pass-blocking skills are in question, there’s no doubt he’s proven himself as a receiver, often showing off his speed and ability to do damage after the catch.

Now that Head Coach Mike McCarthy is in Dallas, we should expect something more from the tight end position. During his time coaching the Green Bay Packers, McCarthy put a lot of attention to the position...

Jarwin's skillset is probably more similar to Jermichael FInley than Jason Witten...

let see if he can catch the underneath stuff, run the shorter routes, run the middle crossing routes. so far his big plays have been catches down the seam in the middle and 3 of those came against the hapless Giants. if he wants to be a starting TE and not just a guy who catches a few deep passes now and then as the 2nd TE, he needs to be a good route runner at all levels of the field.

Novacek was cool.
A real cowboy on the Dallas Cowboys!

You raise a good point concerning the blocking.
Also, I love the comparison. Let's hope Jarwin can
measure up to it. I'm rooting for him.

That's who Jarwin reminds me of Novacek physically. Tall and lanky. I think Jarwin has better wheels but Novacek had vice grips for hands when catching the ball and blocked effectively.

Jarwin is a good TE . I like Witten but he reached a point of being a progress stopper for the other TEs on this roster.

Excited to see what he can do as a starter.
