Signed by Cowboys Cowboys to hire UCF Assistant DL Coach Demeitre Brim as Assistant DL Coach

I'm hopeful that means he will have strong input into any defensive players the Cowboys draft.
I expect jerry to be involved on the # 1 picks, but # 3 on down shotty and parker will choose probably.
They will have input on the #1s but those are fun for jerry so he will be involved.

Right now, the Cowboys have two first round picks, then they don't pick again to round #4, so I would hope Parker has more involvement before then if they don't make any trades to get higher round picks.

I wish they would have been able to grab someone from Florida A&M or International. New Hampshire has some pretty good coaches too.

The only worry that I have with this defensive staff is that they are very young and very green across the board. Sometimes, having an old hand who has been through a war or two isn't the worst thing in the world, even if it's as an analyst or as a "senior assistant". I think they will have great energy and will be very creative. I just hope when things get difficult during the season, as they always do, that there's enough experience with this group to weather it.
Well, Marcus Dixon was a DL coach for four years before coming here, and an assistant DL coach the year before that. He did it for the Rams, Broncos and Vikings. Derrick Ainsley's been a defensive back coach since 2013 and a defensive coordinator or passing coordinator for five of those years.

I just don't think it's realistic unless the Joneses completely reverse their free agent philosophy.
I think this is possible in the short term........keep in mind our window is now, with a 2-4 year life line. I think the Parsons trade has given Jerry a new sense of urgency and motivation. He knows his best realistic shot at another SB is Dak. It would not surprise me at all to see him go big on a couple of free agents .......... risking future cap hell in the process.

I can see that their thinking is that we are probably looking at a complete rebuild when Dak is done 3-4 years. May as hell put it all on the line now ........see if we can get it done. Also, if you recall, Jerry has said many times he regrets NOT doing more to get Romo a Super Bowl.

Hint.....if we start seeing a lot of restructuring over the next 2-4 weeks, then the game is on IMO.

BTW.....just read a nugget they could $50M from Dak and Lamb restructure alone

I think this is hope of fans without much evidence to back it. I can understand that we all want hope, but I see no reason to believe it will happen until we see it. There have been other years that should have provided Jerry with a new sense of urgency and motivation in this period since 2012 and they have not. I believe they believe in their philosophy and don't expect it to change.

What that philosophy has consisted of since the change is:

1) Paying their own free agents
2) Being willing to trade for high-quality players (like they did last year with Quinnen), players with untapped potential or older vets with maybe a little left
3) Only using free agency to bring in fill-in players
4) Leaning on the draft for long-term roster fixes

Well they should have input,on the # 1s, but you know jerry is gonna be involved on the #1 picks.
I wonder how they will decide whether to go defense or offense on the 1s. Or will it be BPA?
I knew we didnt have a 2, guess we dont have a 3 either.

Hopefully they get 2 starters for the #1's, they really need to hit on those.
I wouldnt trade one for more lesser picks unless what I had to choose from was not that good.

The fact that Parker looks like he is hand picking his own staff should be a huge boost for the defense.

Having everyone on the same page is crucial. The Cowboys (obviously) did not have that under Eberflus; where it appeared like there was a disconnect between the three levels of the defense.

Remember the talk last season of Eberflus' defense being too complicated? I don't think that was the case. The problem was a coaching staff that struggled to mesh ideas and philosophies, and the players were caught in the middle.

Hopefully the youth movement in coaches payoff, I do not know if the "they too old to understand my situation" and "too old to relate too" is an excuse or if it is a real thing. I guess its possible it can be an excuse and a real thing. Strange how the times have changed.

Draft....yes ( Jerry has always given coaches a strong voice in the draft room)

Free agency ....maybe but I have a sneaky feeling Jerry is going to sign an elite defensive free agent or trade for one. A move no one is expecting. Two names I can't get out of my head ....Trey Hendrickson and Patrick Surtain.
***It's no secret we tried to trade for Hendrickson after the Parsons trade but their asking price was too high.
***It's also no secret that Surtain was our #1 draft target before we drafted Parsons. Parker is his former position coach. His contract is very tradeable ( only 2 years of guaranteed money left $17M each) https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/72389/patrick-surtain-ii
Would Sean Payton take 20 for him? Keep in mind, he has to start thinking about Bo Nix's contract.
Surtain would cost at least what Sauce did

From what I’ve read, Parker had a strong voice in the secondary draft picks in Denver and Philadelphia and both teams ended up with great players.

I’m hoping the same thing will happen in Dallas.
He seems to get alot out talent quickly. Surtain, Mitchell and DeJean were all All Pro's under Parker by there second year. And all very strong players as rookies. He can probably max out Revel, who was considered a 1st round talent. Carson could also be a real sleeper for us this year if he stays healthy

Loving this youth movement with the coaching staff and I absolutely love that the DC is picking his assistants.
