What? You wouldn't take a 2nd? For Bass?
I am a big fan of Bass as a backup and spot starter and we are all entitled to our own opinions of course but this is tough to follow. Even assuming this means Tyler Smith stays at LT, I'd take a 2nd for Bass in a millisecond. A 2nd is a very high value pick. You can get a Bass type player that is 5 years younger, cheaper and most likely better and expected to start as compared a guy who can start if you need him to with that pick.

I wouldn't be surprised at all, and he's a great backup for that price, he's proven he can start.

I don't think fans appreciate how starved for OL talent the league is.

It is a bit pricey for a backup but I think he has been trained to play C as well….so he is the first reserve probably at all three interior spots.

I often say that quality depth is a luxury in the NFL

TJ Bass is quality depth on the OLine. Can he be a long-time starter? maybe, maybe not.

But he is depth, so DAL can't overpay. Keep him or get a 2nd... it's a win-win
