The club tried to add another. Club officials waved a pick from next year’s draft in front of teams hoping to move into the seventh round to select DC Jefferson, a blocking tight end from Rutgers, but no one bit.

Would have been thrilled if he was even half the blocker Bennett was, to get him in the 7th.

I thought it was strange that we didn't grab more OL --but we do have Arkin, Leary, Weems, and Kowalski all needing playing time in TC and preseason to get better (or get gone). Add Parnell to that list as well-- he'll be on the team but he really needs playing time. I also suspect that we might get one of the UFA tackles signed

I thought we should have gone DL in round 2 or 3 as well as one in the later rounds. I don't think we're as "stocked" at DL as we believe.

What would have REALLY sent us all over the cliff is if Garrett had said in the presser "he really reminds us of Martellus Bennett."

Stocked, no. But I expect it just didn't fall the way we wanted it. I fully expect we get one of those Bear UDFAs in soon to give some depth. I also think we see Kyle Wilbur as a guy who is just as good as any late round DL we could have taken

Kiffin's DLs have always been about being small and getting to the QB. That makes him a better fit there.

The system is admittedly weaker against the run, but the NFL of the last 20 or so years has been one where your pass D is far more important that your run D.

Brandon McGee, Ariz. St. OLB/UDFA signing was reportedly told we tried to draft up for him too in the 7th.

There were probably a lot of UDFAs we chased telling them we would have drafted them but we didn't have a pick.

I agree, but in a division with NY and Washington, you'd better stop the run because Coughlin and Shannahan will run it more than anyone in the league if they can.
