His "formula" includes the best QB to ever play.
Failed in Cleveland. Wasn't much better in New England until Brady arrived.
Color me skeptical.
He's better than Landry though.
I hear you about Belichick. I go back and forth on my opinion on him. When you have the best QB to ever play the game, it's natural for skeptics to say his success was because of that.
That said, he is certainly one of the best ever. Sure he failed in Cleveland, but it was his first attempt as HC. Coaches, like players, do learn and improve along the way (what works, what doesn't, etc). And his 36–44 record there is something most Browns fans would kill for now. He is the last HC to bring the Browns to the playoffs and win a game there.
He has also proved to to be a very good defensive coach. I think most would agree that his defense early this year looked dreadful. That unit is missing a lot of talent and he still has them improving weekly and playing better situational defense the last several weeks.
Some of the younger posters here probably don't remember, but he wasn't the same his last few years. It did seem that the game was passing him by. He's a true legend, but the game was changing and he wasn't a fit for it.
