They were 9-6-1 how did they become the class of the East? I do think the Eagles are a team who will be competing I also think Dallas will make a run at it as well. Giants are the defending NFC East champ and fully expect them to be in the running.

Because they gel and win when they are suppose to! I hate the Eagles, but they kicked our arse last year when both teams needed the win and they have improved by excellant off-season moves. I have no idea where the Boys rank, but they better improve a ton to beat either the Eagles or Giants.

We split with both of them last year. If they gelled and win when they are suppose to then Philly would have a few SB trophies in the show case. They also went lost an important game in dec vs the Commanders in week 16. I think both Dallas and Philly are good teams and I expect to see all 3 teams competing for the division and post season play.

it seems that the Eagles have stymied our rushing attack for the past decade

I actually like the approach we've had against them the past 2 years, beat them by beating the blitz, Romo is very good at that, so I wouldn't totally abandon that approach

but like you say, incorporate more of a rushing attack into the mix, I would throw them different looks, like in Sept. I would air it out on them, we're 2-0 against the Eagles in that month, and then in December, go to the running game and pound them out, since trying to air it out hasn't worked out so well then

Class of the division, most talent...blah blah blah...all comes down to who is the hottest at the end of the season. All 4 teams in the East could win it. I wouldn’t count any of them out.

Hey ScipioCowboy, thanks for the post. That was a FANTASTIC analysis. We all know that Dallas needs to focus on the run more. And while we've all debated the issue, your perspective seals the case shut for using the run to set up the pass, versus the other way aruond in which Dallas has been doing it of late. Many thnaks! :D

I don’t agree that the solution is...just run the ball. Run the ball into a brick wall and put Romo in third and long situations is the solution? The Cowboys have to make them pay when they blitz. Use more screens, reverses, short passes, RBs out of the backfield, wheelroutes or have Witten abuse the safeties. They did all these in the first game. In the second game...first 3rd down and short situation, Romo misses a wide open Crayton...miscommunication. That crap is what killed the boys last season. But to run the ball into 9 man fronts just for the sake of running the ball is not the solution.

I agree completely.

Its about outcoaching, getting favorable mismatches ESPECIALLY when we play the Eagles.

We have been VERY poor at that for some time now.

We were winning via the big plays... living and dying by them. Thats not a good philosoohy IMO.

Having a healthy Barber and F. Jones would have helped in that last game this past year.

The Class of the east may be a stretch for even this Eagles fan, but I'd say last years wasn't too shabby - with the exception of the tie and loss of the NFC Championship game to Arizona. Our last game against the Cowboys had to be a fluke ...44-6.

Do you feel that you have enough guns (minus T.O. and the other Roy Williams) to bounce back this coming season. The Giants look like to team to beat this year.

Man, I miss your posts. LOL

The word class is a stretch just to be used in same sentence with anything pertaining to Philly. So I agree.

As far as the Giants. Really? You believe that? They looked pretty darn mortal minus Plexiglas.

Well ...I wouldn't overlook the Giants so quickly my Cowboys opponent fan. Here's why ...

Eli Manning (QB)

Sinorice Moss (WR)

Hakeem Nicks (Rookie Threat ...possibly)

Brandon Jacobs (RB)

Jeff Feagles (K)

All I'm saying is i think they will still be a credible force I the NFC-East; they'll do their damage I'm sure. You know all NFC-East teams play each other harder than anyone else in the NFL.

I'm not really writing the Giants off as the class of the NFC East because they probably are.

But Sinorice Moss? That's just garbage. He's as confirmed a bust as anyone in the NFC East. If the facts that he was picked in the 2nd round 3 years ago, has a career high of 225 yards in a season and the Giants continually drafting WRs since they picked him hasn't clued you in, nothing will.

Dallas, New York or Philadelphia haven't neither done enough in free agency nor through the draft this offseason to claim sheer superiority over either of the other two teams. However, the winner of the NFC East will be one of these three teams.

It wouldn't also surprise me that the divisional champion will have four or even three NFCE wins. What would surprise the heck out of me if Washington leapfrogged to the top. I just don't see that happening.
