The solution is to do an extension that spreads the money out over the next three years, guaranteed.

I disagree, the decision on where to start Jalen (safety or CB) won't be determined when the pick is made imo (similar to the Jones situation). So when the pick is made, the Cowboys will then have "leverage" in any contract negotiations with Carr. Now this is all just banter, but if Jalen is the pick the Cowboys will at least appear to have Carr's replacement. Even is its not their intention to start him at CB.

I was thinking about renegotiating next year.

That's a good point. Noticed your post count was low... If you're new to the boards, keep up the good posts!

Some of you guys have clearly forgotten what actual "putrid" CB play looks like. You guys don't remember Jacques Reeves or Alan Ball?

Alan Ball was an acceptable corner when he was allowed to play at that position... he was a "putrid" safety.

Since leaving the Cowboys Ball has been an OK NFL corner.

The Cowboys should have left him there.

In today's market $9 million isn't a big price tag for a starting CB.

I think fans under rate his abilities as well. Dallas was 5th in yards passing per game last season, with next to no pass rush. He isn't a super start but he is a solid starter.

I agree fans under rare Carr because like an edge rusher, they judge the position based on one stat, ints or sacks. That said Carr is well over paid which is a product of being in the last year of his contract. Carr is a prime example of free agency, especially free agents from teams with talent around them. Carr is not worth what he is paid but most free agents aren't

like every other DB in Dallas, this dude would come to Dallas and become a terrible player. Rod, Charles and Darren Woodson could come in their prime to the current Dallas Cowboys and would become terrible players.

Well Orlando Scandrick has actually performed better than anyone expected with this staff. Same can be said with Barry Church, he seems to be hitting a wall but prior to that, he was a late round pick(was he even drafted? I forgot) that turned into a solid starter. As far as Wilcox, he was a fourth round pick and they don't always have a good chance to turn out.

The year we picked up both Carr and Claiborne was a fail but it's not like our secondary players are going to other teams and lighting it up with other staffs. Rod Marinelli is one of the better coach in the league.

If you think Carr (without a pass rush) is bad then you will truly dislike this player by the end of next season. The guy is overrated.

Find a pass rush and fans complaints about Carr will drop significantly.

Resign Hardy and find a DT and DE later in the draft.

Drafting a CB with the fourth pick will not solve Dallas' problems; it will only get worse.

Amen. If Ramsey had played at Fresno St instead of Florida St nobody would be talking about this guy as a top 5 pick.

Acceptable depth at corner maybe, I don't believe he is an acceptable starting corner in the NFL but I agree he wasn't a safety.

lol, what kind of statement is that?

A) Well, probably.

B) You heard of this Wentz guy people are talking about potentially going 2nd overall? Where'd he play again?

It makes me chuckle that many in here act like Carr stole your baby from it's crib
Carr is playing against the #1 receiver as a #2 CB; he does this with no help from the DL to apply pressure and make the QB's throw errant passes....not his fault that the FO has not gotten him help nor is it his fault that they paid him a king's ransom....IMO, he is a decent player, he just isn't a #1 CB and he gets paid too much...I would love to see him stay at a reduced rate; but, if cutting him saves the cap room and allows other signings, then so be it....I am indifferent to the Carr plight, with the exception of all of the armchair QB's in here that are so angry about him....geez, not worth the aggravation, move along , move along

Exactly how I feel. Some fans just don't get it, fix the pass rush and those DB's we have will surprise everyone with better play.

not a lot of hope for the defense with us bringing back the same gang without hardy with no pass rush and these corners the defense will never get of the field and no lead will be safe.

Other than Orlando Scandrick can you name me one bright spot from the secondary the last decade. We can't sign em, draft em, evaluate em, develop em. The total lot has been mediocre from Sensabaugh to Wilcox to Carr to Claiborne to Heath, the list goes on and on. They need to destroy whatever they're doing to evaluate for the secondary and build from scratch. Instead we just promoted the coach partly responsible for the putrid safety play. Where is the light?

Speak for yourself. Many here want to see Carr actually make a play on the ball, knock it down, deny the catch. Be physical somewhat with the receiver like Scandrick shows. Not be Scandrick, but show some fire. Instead of just watching the receiver make play, after play. Again, he is getting paid like a top cb, so of course we expect something, anything to justify it. Not just trailing every receiver downfield.

Again it works both ways. Even when we have a consistent pass rush in a game, not dominate, but getting in the qb's head somewhat, Carr isn't doing anything different.

Trust me. Every week watching Carr getting toasted is a constant reminder of Alan Ball and Courtney Brown Part Deux. Only worse since Carr is getting top ten money for CBs. What kind of message to the team do you send by making Carr the highest paid player on defense and he continually gives a putrid performance like he has for several years?
