The Dallas Cowboys want to get rookie runner Felix Jones more touches, so they plan to use him more in the passing game to utilize his speed, according to Sporting News Today.

Our View: Jones had a very nice game Week 1, with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown. He did not catch a pass, but should he begin to be an option through the air, his fantasy value will continue to rise.

Since Barber is ailing, shouldn't Felix also get more carries? One would think so....

Red will utilize him to beat that blitz on Mon. night.......believe me, I've been beating a drum since he was drafted....he's the key to beating that blitz against Philly and the Gspots....the old delay/draw play that we use to run with emmitt and we showed against the Browns, the swing pass to the flat that Julius sucked at but he won't, and of course the little circle route about five yards downfield where the LB's are gone because they're blitzing the crap out of Romo: those are the three plays to look for Mon. night with this young man. If he holds onto the ball, he'll be gone for at least one score, probably two IMO.

Should get some sprint outs, some quick hits split wide, maybe some sweeps and some lead tosses as well as lead draws and the above. Add screens and you have enough plays to see what happens. Once they stop the blitz then I'd love to see him go long. Dang, he should be a nightmare of a matchup for a LB. If they have to start game planning for him then this offense will be a lot of fun.

I can barely contain my excitement with you all talking about Felix. If that teams blitzes, and Romo will find a way to flick the ball the Felix, lights out.

I was thinking that the reason why we didn't see much of Felix and Bennett was because we didn't want to show anything new to Philly. I don't think that the only way Garrett plans on using Felix is just in the backfield by himself. We will be doing more creative things on Monday Night.

I can see FJ running delay draws and screen passes many times against the Eagles.

felix can be a part time wide out for us .. in one of those tuff 1 min under TD situations ... but then again will have to see how he handles it before we go that route .

did he do any during the presaons ?

did the coaches ever say why the didn't use him more in the 1st game?????

I think that Garrett didn't want to show too much of Felix. Or at least the more creative plays featuring Felix. Like lining him up out wide or in the same backfield as Barber. Why show off those formations against Cleveland when we play Philly the next week?

You make a fine point, though I believe you are giving our coaching staff a little too much credit. Fact is, we very rarely see that kind of long-term strategy here in Dallas(or any other NFL team for that matter). We probably haven't used Felix in this way because the offense has not mastered the timing needed to execute them yet.

Felix is going to be a weapon, no doubt. But he better figure out how to pick up the blitz and actually stop his man. Opposing teams are likely to blitz much more often when Felix is the game until he proves he can stop someone.

that's a good point boysfan2, but then I'd like to see MB3 or Tony Curtis as a single back to protect RomO: we WILL max protect Mon. night IMO; just can't keep getting tuned up by old man Johnson and those blitz crazy aholes. Seriously, if we keep MB3 or Curtis in and get TO, Crayton, Witten and Felix to spread the field: that's a pretty good recipe in my opinion: the best of both worlds if you think about it. Our oline protecting, plus an extra blocker to account for their blitz. As I said, if they send more than one blitzer which the old man often does: we'll keep 2 in the back field to max protect and send 3 out in the pattern (TO, Crayton and Witten) Romo will do just fine if he has the time.

And thankfully he's one of my fantasy backs who I got REALLY late. Could be a steal. :)
