Cowboys' work on Odell Beckham Jr. shouldn't be overlooked
Jean-Jacques Taylor, ESPN Staff Writer

IRVING, Texas -- Odell Beckham Jr. made himself a household name in October with a sensational one-handed touchdown grab over Brandon Carr on "Sunday Night Football."

Well, the Dallas Cowboys made him a non-factor for much of the night in their 27-26 win over the New York Giants.

They did it, as you would expect, with some double coverage. But they also asked Carr, Morris Claiborne and Tyler Patmon to play man-to-man occasionally.

Beckham finished with five catches for 44 yards, including

Yes D did a great job on him. But the love fested announcing crew would not mention now he was contained. Or I didn't hear it anyway.

Someone needs to make sure that film gets to all of the teams on the Giants schedule, except not to the Eagles.
Commanders don.t matter.

Beckham is simply very, very over-rated because of that one "so called" great catch, he can't take the big hit, even JJ WIlcox knocked him out....that and our DBs can cover man-o-man nicely.

Overall it was very good on the Cowboys to contain him. This would have been harder with Cruz. Thats not to take away from Dallas, they did a great job. Im sure many people expected OBJ to be way more productive or looking for that one play to break it open and it didnt happen.

lol Dude, no he isn't. Dude had 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 TDs last year. That isn't overrated. He had a fantastic year for a veteran WR, yet he was only a rookie!!!

He was also 4x rookie of the week, 2x rookie of the month, and like three different rookie of the year awards AND a Pro Bowler AND PFF All-Pro as a rookie. /smh

And he did all of that in 12 games. He was a beast last year.

Agreed. I expect the Giants second meeting against us, he will do quite a bit more damage. I think the Church hit rang his bell enough for his to be timid until late in the game. I don't think that will be the case next go around.

No doubt Cowboys secondary played a good game. Eli had to settle for a lot of dink and dunk passing. It was somewhat effective and guys will need to do a better job on those routs but overall was happy with how the Cowboys secondary played

That was LAST YEAR...and he can't take a hit, nearly shut out by Pattmon and Mo, lol....joke of a over-rated, little/small 170lb WR and dumbed down as a person, out of the league in 4 years. Concussed by FS JJ WIlcox Sunday night.

Get him off your fantasy roster while you can.

sooooooooooooooooo what are you trying to say?

Yes Beckham is legit, yes the Giants took a great pick. Yes hes going to light it up. Once Cruz comes back, OBJ will get his. I agree with everything you said.

he's not overrated IMO. he's a top 5-10 WR. the catch was very much over-hyped even though it was impressive.

while i think our DBs played well, i think Wilcox's hit took the starch out of him and was the biggest factor. completely changed the game for him individually.

false. he is not "overrated" because of that catch. he played 12 games last year and put up 16 games worth of elite WR stats. he's a very, very good WR - will be top 5, if he isn't already.

seems the book on him is man-to-man coverage and hard, concussive hits. He seemed pretty ordinary Sunday night.

He had a great rookie season and no reason to try to take that away from him by saying he is over rated. Over hyped sure. Dude has plenty of talent. Now having said that this year he needs to prove he can be a legit #1 and so far has not been able to do that in any of the preseason games or last Sunday against Dallas. His issues seem be beating double teams which is a growing pain many WRs go through. The other being he does not like when DBs get physical with him and the only way to overcome that is with his attitude because technique does not solve going over the middle.

I think the Wilcox hit set the tone on OBJ. I really think OBJ was out of rhythm and mentally phased out after that hit. Not saying the others didn't do a good job containing him but OBJ seemed to lack the bounce in his step afterwards. You know OBJ will be listening for footsteps the next time he's called to go over the deep middle.
