Fans are compelled to either make a good player 1.) invincible or 2.) a scrub.
ODB is a very good receiver. Great? It's hard for me to call any rookie or second-year player "great." I think the "greatness" call should come after a few years in the league.
Having said that, ODB had a great rookie season. But he is not invincible. Neither is Dez. Almost every player has strengths and weaknesses. Only the transcendent ones don't - and I don't know too many of those players.
Jaws said something I think is worth repeating. He said he noticed ODB didn't go all out on his routes and had some "turtle" in him. He said defensive backs would exploit that this year and target him for big hits. That's EXACTLY what Wilcox did.
But that's no knock on ODB. If you're not built for such hits, why would you play as if you could take them?
Sometimes, your opponent figures out how to take advantage of your weakness. That doesn't make you a scrub, any more than Dez was a scrub Sunday night because the Giants basically locked him up.
News flash: The other team has players and playmakers too, and they're trying to take advantage of the Cowboys' weaknesses.
