Cowherd nails it on Micah trade

The last time we won the Super Bowl we had dominant DTs and aging/injured DEs. Charles Haley was great but he had a bad back and did not play in the playoffs until the Super Bowl. It was the Leon Lett show. We had Lett, Hennings, Maryland rotation. DE we had Shante Carver (let that sink in for a minute) and Tolbert who was battling bad knees.
That poor kid.. Jerry and nem built him up to be the next Charles Haley and there was no way he was living up to that. He did turn out to be a very solid player but the expectations placed upon him by the Cowboys at that time were ridiculous.

It is hard to believe Cowherd watched that game last night and came away with comments about Micah. The Packers offense scored 1 TD and self destructed all night and he thought he needed to be a critic of Parsons and the defense. It shows how little he knows about football. How many points did the Eagles score last night? They had less than 300 yards on the night.

It's the Packers offense that is struggling and the guy who is most overrated on that team is getting paid $55 million per year to play QB.

Yep. I remember in 94 at TC there was a hot mic moment when Aikman was complaining about Jerry talking up Carver as a future all pro. Carver got a bad rap due to Jerry’s ego and wanting to prove he could draft without Jimmy. But in Carver’s defense he was stout against the run and we did play with him as a starter in December and through the playoffs. So we beat the Eagles and Brett Favre’s Packers in the NFCCG so Carver couldn’t have been that bad. He did exactly what we needed him to do and we won the Super Bowl. I think this is why I’m excited about Quinnen. I would rather have a dominant DT that can play the pass and the run as opposed to a dominant pass rusher that struggles against the run. Our history and recent Super Bowl history shows a dominant DT is better in the playoffs than a dominant pass rusher.

100% right there with you. Q-Dub is going to work wonders for this defense. Having him and Clark side by side with Thomas and Osa rotating in and with Wilson at middle backer we are suddenly stout up the middle. I can't remember the last time we could say that about a Cowboys defense. I still don't think it's enough to get this team to the playoffs. Though I don't think anybody sees the Panthers and Bears losses as some huge upsets anymore.. But they are still losses that will hurt in the standings and will probably keep us on the outside looking in come playoffs.

I think playoffs are unrealistic this year but next year I think we’ll be there.

My post is dumb? Why, because it hurts your feelings? It's an opinion I share with somebody whom I don't always agree with; this is a discussion board. If you don't agree with it, then move along and lend something credible to a conversation. Pretty simple, isn't it? Or maybe not for you?
No, it was dumb because it was factually incorrect and I easily disapproved it with the most basic of stats.
And it’s a discussion board, but if I disagree with you I should just move on? Sounds like youre the one with hurt feelings because someone disagrees with your VERY DUMB opinion.

lol, okay genius. In your expert opinion what is factually wrong? I could care less if you disagree but to suggest a post is dumb? Because your stat is based on one game, and the Cowboys trade was for the future strength of the team?

Thats kinda a trash take. Micah leads the top ranked defense in the NFC and they are 5th in the league. He didn't have any splash plays but the defense stuffed philly's offense giving up only 10 points. So, thats not nothing.

With Cowherd it's the overhype.. GB has had a strong D as it is

Sure, but he has made them better. They give up fewer yards and points per game vs 2024.

I had no issue with the trade. I just wish they had done it in the spring when there would have been more bidders.

Agreed...for GB, they should have traded those picks for OL instead of strengthening an already strong D

I thought the most incredible stat going around on Hafley's GB defense was that in the 3 losses they have given up a total of 39 points(10, 13 & 16)and less than a total of 800 yards.
A stat not duplicated since the 1940 Lions.

If that ain't playing outstanding dee I don't know what to say.
And I don't like GB.
But credit where credit is due.

The Cowboys' Rushing D is ranked 30th, as it was last year with Micah. The argument that GB held Barkley to 60 yards is par for the course this year for the Iggles. Nothing wrong with Micah being a 1-trick pony; this team needed more. He is not TJ, Myles, etc GB sees his strength as the missing link to a Championship, so they went for it. Will it work? Time will tell.

TJ Watt currently plays on the worst ranked pass defense in the league, no team is giving up more ypg than the Steelers and they are 5th worst overall in ypg.

Myles Garret is on the second best defense in the league in ypg, the browns are 2-7

Micah being a otp doesn’t change his impact, him being on the field makes everyone else’s jobs easier.

You aren't suggesting that if you have TJ and Myles over for dinner, that you invite Micah as well, are you? If you can figure out why the Steelers D is so bad this year let their HC know, because he looks lost. And pleae, do NOT bring up Micah Parsons in the same breath as you do Myles Garrett

Duh.. if you can run the ball you can negate a one-trick (pass rush) pony.. Who knew? That's why I always considered Tank the superior player when he was here with Parsons. Parsons made dessert plays.. Lawrence made meat and potatoes plays.
Micah was in the GB playoff game too and caught no heat. Film ain't lying.
