Leary said he was going to practice this Wed. I would say that I was surprised that Bern was so poor yesterday. He did well last year. Need Leary back.
I think it's just difficult to get 0 game action for 9 weeks or whatever and then be asked to come in against an excellent defensive front. Bern got better last year as the season went on, so I'd expect him to improve moving forward if Leary does need another week or 2..

Hmmmm...I thought Coleman was better assuming he's helthy. Either way, Melton's snap totals will increase.

Coleman is on the 53 but with Crawford going down I would assume for 2 to 4 weeks it likely means you will have to add Bishop to the 53 for depth

And who do you cut for this? They will probably role with who they have. McClain and Coleman. Unless they are ready to bring back Okoye. In which case they'd still have to cut someone.

Agreed.

Has the severity of the sprain been made public or are we assuming 2-4 weeks?

CJ Spillman? I just think if Crawford is going to be out the 2-4 weeks you best have more depth out there.

I'm not sure they would drop a player from the roster and shuffle like that for what might amount to just one game, but we'll see.

we assume 1 game, if it is 3 to 4 games then I think having backups to rotate is a bigger need than Spillman

I think you probably roll with Coleman at least through the bye until you have a better feel on how quickly Crawford is coming along.

Yeah, agreed unless Hayden is also injured or Crawford is more like 4 to 6 weeks. We'll just roll with a more shallow rotation than usual.

Any news on Free? I think Parnell has been good filling in but just wondering if Free will be back this week.

With Crawford down Bishop will likely be called up.
Coleman is the 3-tech replacement for Crawford. They won't call up Bishop only to have him inactive on game day.

Bishop would be the replacement for Hayden, but after the Bye Josh Brent is likely the 2nd 1-tech.

I'm a fan of Bishop but I don't see them calling him up this week.

Considering Coleman has been a healthy scratch from the game day roster for the past few weeks, I think Coleman goes to the game day roster and Crawford goes inactive for this week. Then we have the bye and will see how Crawford is then. By that time Brent will be back as well, probably.

McClain has beeen playing almost as well as Crawford. Both guys have been disruptive and have taken on double-teams that allow other defenders to put pressure on the QB.

It is kind of amazing how interior DLine was such a turnstile of JAGs last year and this year could be the deepest position(s) on the entire defense.
