Just knowing how unpredictable the NFL is....it wouldn't shock me one bit if the defensive line ends up being the least of our concerns. It seems like when we fix one hole another one pops up. Just a little crazy prediction on my part but I think the offense is going to be the one to hold us back....I hope i'm wrong there. And I base that off nothing other than Romo's possible health and the unpredictability of the NFL.

Yes there are lots of question with this dline. But just because one of the players said something positive do we really need to start bashing on him till no end. I hope the Dline does live up to their talk and anything like last year should be an improvement. But that doesn't mean they have to keep their mouth shut and not say anything positive.

Rod bringing the swagger back I like it. He talked a little about the practice and said he got called out three times for mistakes due to rustiness. Said afterwards in the meeting room Rod gave him a big smile.

I don't know about that. Selfie was on the street last year before we signed him. Melton hasn't seen the field since injury. Crawford hasn't seen the starting line up at all and Dlaw is a rookie. Honestly, I can't name a more unproven line than this right now. If the DL stays healthy they will improve by default. I will be ecstatic if they can be average instead of being bottom dwellers.

You absolutely could do worse than that. What if we didn't get Melton? Or didn't draft DLaw?

We could be looking at something like Crawford, Hayden, Bass, Selvie. Can you imagine? Lol.

Weird, this positive comment ended us up with a negative thread. Go figure.

and thus, another thread follows the path of every other thread in the zone....many people have this to looks forward to each day: wake up (many from their parent's basement), cereal/coffee, look for a job, post negative comment about (fill in the blank) thread, lunch, look for a job, post negative comment....(you get the idea)

some people gotta complain to feel alive!!!

IMO, I wish the guys (players) would accomplish something before talking, but I also love confidence...I just want to hear more during the season....I am patient....

Not much worse. There might be 1-2 teams going into this season with a worse lineup that what you just listed.

Names mean nothing. Look back at the 12/13 Seahawks, it didn't sound like much of a group either before the season.

Cowboys only need health and they wiil be far better off than a year ago.

Been saying this for awhile now and plan to keep saying it.
Barring major injuries, they will be way better on defense. Even with Lee down I feel certain they'll be better, but not quite as much.

The full rotation at dline is going to better though.

I have standing bet out there for the 4-12 crowd too :D
But the other is that the defense will be better in both total defense and scoring defense.

Rob Ryan supposedly brought swagger and people couldn't wait to bash him and congratulate the team on getting rid of the guy.

Guess it was the wrong kind of swagger.

Lol, good point. I don't really mind if the players go in with an attitude like that, but they do need to show it on the field this season.

I think part of the problem was he was saying how great they would be if they just got him his corners.
He was a big reason they did the Claiborne trade and in the same offseason still went out and spent 50 million on Carr. So they went all out, overkill even, to upgrade that position.

When the results were not there, even though injuries (not as many as last year, but a lot) the front office was not happy.
When you talk that loud, are rumored to have skipped some meetings, pit offense vs defense at VR, and Jerry throws everything Into giving in to your demand...and then you fail...for right or wrong, you will pay.

He must be drinking that special sauce. lol

I don't care if they talk as long as they back it up but honestly, we've seen this before and then they fall flat on their faces.

I love a team with swagger but only after they actually do something. Talk like that at this point is a joke and worthy of ridicule.

Pretty much. I can appreciate an us vs. the world, shut up the "haters" etc. but would it not be more impressive if you just had quiet determination versus what comes across as just more empty talk and unfounded bravado that everyone has heard before?

Imagine this. Say the Eagles had an all-time epic bad defense. Then the next offseason we read their reserve players who have really never done anything talking like this. Would you not laugh uncontrollably? Wouldn't you be more impressed if they just came out and shocked everyone without the chatter during the offseason?
