I think part of the problem was he was saying how great they would be if they just got him his corners.
He was a big reason they did the Claiborne trade and in the same offseason still went out and spent 50 million on Carr. So they went all out, overkill even, to upgrade that position.

When the results were not there, even though injuries (not as many as last year, but a lot) the front office was not happy.
When you talk that loud, are rumored to have skipped some meetings, pit offense vs defense at VR, and Jerry throws everything Into giving in to your demand...and then you fail...for right or wrong, you will pay.

The results where there for the first half of the season.

Even when the defense was bad, they were better than last year.

Basically. Talk a big game, but not too big.

-He said they heard all the noise about how terrible they were last year and using it as motivation.

Noise? Noise?

What noise does you means Crawford?

To me, if this defense isn't HISTORICALLY bad and terrible as they were last year, then yeah, I'll be shocked and pleased.

What's he going to say? We're going to be worse than last year?

How about not saying anything and coming out in week 1 and actually shocking the nation with your play and a decisive victory as a result. Then you may flap your gums to your heart's content.

This is the 3rd or 4th time in the last 2 weeks that a player has said we are underrating the talent on the defense.....are we missing out on something?

If they can find a way to create some pressure then we might end up having a solid DL. I just don't see it though.

I know Melton is a really good player when healthy but he alone will not be enough.

Selvie, Crawford, and Lawrence all need to be pretty good.

Also the tidbit about Lee changing the subject to Crawford's progress in practice rather than dwell on his injury just magnifies how sick I am about his injury. Seriously, his injury really just makes my stomach turn. I understand life is not fair but Lee deserves better than this.

Specifically he asked him to evaluate himself and said, "What did you do wrong?". That's why I think he'll be a good coach. Always asking his teammates to evaluate themselves.

Crawford was on the Break today, interview starts at the 3 minute mark.

-He said they heard all the noise about how terrible they were last year and using it as motivation.

-Loves dline chemistry on and off the field.

-Mincey is stepping up as vocal leader.

-His most natural position is left end.

This is the 3rd or 4th time in the last 2 weeks that a player has said we are underrating the talent on the defense.....are we missing out on something?

Only if you haven't been paying attention. There's been plenty of evidence this year that things are changing for the better with the Cowboys. Garretts leadership, giving Marinelli the defense, letting Ware, Hatcher and Ratliff go, recent solid drafts and FA signings, hiring Linehan and relegating Callahan to a lesser role, etc.

and thus, another thread follows the path of every other thread in the zone....many people have this to looks forward to each day: wake up (many from their parent's basement), cereal/coffee, look for a job, post negative comment about (fill in the blank) thread, lunch, look for a job, post negative comment....(you get the idea)

some people gotta complain to feel alive!!!

IMO, I wish the guys (players) would accomplish something before talking, but I also love confidence...I just want to hear more during the season....I am patient....

The greatest sin is when good men do nothing....
The silent majority...
It all applies. We sit around and let the negative Nancies have all the say so... say something positive :D

Crawford said nothing wrong in that interview. If he had said something like... "We have a lot of work to do. We really aren't very good right now." Then I would be worried.

Been saying Crawford is a SDE who can play inside some. He's not a 3 or a 1 but could play some snaps. He doesn't have the twitch to be a full time 3. Bass is going to surprise people as well as Crawford. Selvie I don't like as a full time SDE. I'd try him on the weak side as well as strong but he needs to improve his run defense.

Rob Ryan supposedly brought swagger and people couldn't wait to bash him and congratulate the team on getting rid of the guy.

Guess it was the wrong kind of swagger.

yes it was the wrong kind of swagger....

People have heard all this before.

You'll have to pardon those who have become jaded with all the talk over the years, only to see the team fail to back it up.

Actually when you watch the entire interview Crawford does zero crazy talkin, just thankful to be back in practice with a positive attitude about the new players added to the line. Others have made mention to his stellar play in practice keeping in mind this was over a year ago. BTW, Tyrone looks great and sounds terrific. Not too high nor too low. Maybe he is the RKG that we want. Predicting a big season from him playing outside on run play situations and inside when D Law comes in.
