I believe it is a mistake to assume an emotional content in another poster's critique of the team.

I also believe some suppose those who are harder on the franchise are so because they are negative. That is understandable since most of the people here don't have a lengthy history with this team back to the glory days.

However, it seems to me if this franchise was at or near the top, you wouldn't find many pointing out the shortcomings of individuals like the GM, or specific players or coaches.

This has been a long dry spell for all of us. For those who critique and those who are coddled.

There has been only one consistent over this (two decade) long dry spell.

People have heard all this before.

You'll have to pardon those who have become jaded with all the talk over the years, only to see the team fail to back it up.

You'd think the team has been 5-11 the past three years in a row.

8-8 is nothing to be proud of, but can we stop pretending Dallas is a bottom-feeder in the NFL? They're mediocre and need to improve. That's it.

What gets me is how many teams that make the playoffs one year then don't the next. Isn't there something like an average of 6 new playoff teams each year?

Indeed. I wouldn't be surprised for example if Denver even with all of their moves take a huge step back. Denver is relying on some frequently injured players and lost some key pieces from last year's team. The formula has changed in the great era of mediocrity in the NFL. Health to your key players is paramount for success with a few lucky bounces a long the way.

Teams that are 2 and 3 deep at key positions are a thing of the past, which allows fortunes to turn as random as the weather. This season's landscape will be very different than the last and it will be more so if and when the league expand the number of teams in the playoffs.

It's their job to have belief. It's our job to have hope.
I have played on championship teams and some of the sorriest teams that ever took snaps on the field and one thing both types of teams had in common was a belief that we would win. Confidence is important when competing but it is not the deciding factor to winning or losing.

The guy is supposedly one of the hardest workers on the team. Mickey and Broaddus vouched for him, saying he was at VR working tirelessly during his rehab.

These athletes aren't robots, we can't just tell to them to shut up and play like they don't have human emotions and opinions.

Indeed, it really is truly stupid of fans to have that sentiment. I think some fans get off telling grown men to "shutup and play". I wonder how they would feel if their boss, coworkers, or customers told them to "shutup and work" while they were on their job.
