I really like Patrick Crayton. I travelled to Oxnard 2 years and watched camp and thought he and Glenn (and Witten) have the best hands on the team. I also love how he gets YAC.
But.....I don't care how big and strong his hands are suppossed to be. Crayton carries the football like a loaf of bread and he swings it around and back, tucked to his forearm and nowhere close to his body. It didn't really cause his muffed punt on Friday, but he is not very responsible with the ball after catching it. I think he has been lucky so far. Every time I see someone bearing down on him from his blind side or behind, I wince because the laws of physics say if they hit the ball the way he is carrying it, it will come out. This issue was raised a couple of years ago in training camp when he was catching everything, because we all got a bunch of chances to see how he runs with the ball. It will come bite this team in the butt at the wrong time unless the coaches harp on him for this. It's my only complaint about the guy, who seems to step up each time he gets the chance, and who makes plays when thrown at.
I'd just hate to see him put the ball on the ground on 2 or 3 important or critical occassions because he hasn't been yelled at enough to hold it more safely when running.
