Crayton Calling Out Garrett

would somebody please tell me how JWitt helps this team?

He is a team leader, a HOF, still blocks well and he had 12 catches in our last two Division games - which we won by a total of 46 points.
 
Garrett lasted a lot longer than Crayton did that's for sure...but they probably both should've had about the same length of stay. 5 years or so.... (i.e., both just aren't/weren't that good)...
 
I think everyone will get their wish Jones hiring a new head coach in 2020.

After us starting 3-0 and the stealers were 0-3 and loss there QB, now fast forward who would you think would be the better team? Let me answer that, the team who made the trade for a Safety ( at time phins just knew that pick would be a top ten), now they are rolling and only loss was in OT to the ravens.
Yes it is time for a new coach.

Top 1/3rd of the league in offense in both the years TO played under Garrett.

The only problem we had on O in 2008 was that TO was an absolute shell of his former self. Dude didn't even catch 50% of his targets but screamed on the sidelines about not getting the ball.

But yeah, Garrett got a "pass" for an bad performance? No offense in the world is going to save you in games when you're giving up 200+ rushing yards and 80 TD runs in OT.

Owens can chirp all he wants. He knows Garrett wanted him gone. Clearly the right decision as he never flashed as a #1 WR after that and continued his horrible 50% catch rate until he retired.

Top offense in yardage, but dropped to bottom half in scoring pretty much all of Garrett’s tenure coaching despite passing yardage and horrible in the red zone in scoring TDs, bottom of the league. They don’t even track yardage as the primary stat anymore.

teams basically defended us two deep safety and were content with us settling for FGs in the red zone or turning the ball over with Garrett’s predictable garbage.

Garrett was trash and when all was said and done at 2012. Garrett was trash.. That’s why Jerry took away the reigns from him..

you clearly didn’t read properly, because Crayton’s comments were regarding a comment that Garrett was not taking blame and pointing out that Dak had multiple options to choose from.
 
That’s just a fantasy you want to believe instead of what I’ve always actually said. I know there are a few players who don’t like him. That’s their right.

It’s overwhelmingly not the case with the players in general, though. He’s generally a well-respected coach by his players. You’ll just have to deal with that however you can.

Look I know so many like to give you crap for defending Garrett throughout the years. I even understand your faith in him. He came from the teachings of Jimmy. He even tries to build a team from the same idea. Sadly he was not a newly hired coach from a dominate college team and understood the best talent in college, but he isn't a disciplinarian that Jimmy was either. Say what you will about having the trade of the century, but he knew who and what he wanted and with that trade, Jimmy got the talent he wanted. Jimmy was not given a team of almost playoff caliber players walking in unlike Garrett. Over 9+ years later we are still the same with the drafting of multiple All-Pro's but still at the level Parcells and Phillips left us.... He has had overachieving QB's, top notch #1 WR's, a work horse of a RB in multiple occasions. Not just one mind you...... Even had an offensive line voted top 3 for multiple years recently....

Maybe the scheme is outdated. Maybe not having top 10 players at all positions is the problem seeing we are now in the salary cap days.... Whatever the reason, one thing is constant. Results are not being made and any other coach in the NFL with this much talent would be let go with our record the past 9 years.... Now I see you are saying other than a few divas, he has the respect of the locker room..... That may be very true. It is not hard to be a man's man while being the boss. Most while under your employ would never come out and second guess you in your face or publicly unless they are on their way out or already gone. I speak from experience....

While my career has been in the food industry, I have been a dishwasher, busboy, server, bartender, cook, driver, hot and cold bar manager, chef, back of house manager, front of house manager, bar manager, assistant GM, and general manager. One thing I can say in the almost 27 years of doing this, I feel I have seen it all. I remember working my way to front of house manager and it being my specialty. I was given that promotion because I understood not only all the positions, but because I had the top sales 3 years running. I taught how to up-sell not only the bar drinks, but using the top 5 sales as a way to feature certain foods. Know your menu and the averages goes along way. Knowing each ingredient and being able to work with guest with an allergy made me look even better. Experience says a lot and knowing your craft will be a deciding factor on how successful you are.

I will also go a step further in this and explain the first 2 times I was a front of the house manager. Since I worked my way up through the ranks, I had the respect of all the staff there. I was their friend first. It wasn't until moving to assistant GM that I learned being your friend was not only a fallback, but cost me respect as well. Every employee in the front thought since I understood what they go through, I would be understanding in their decisions when it came to hustling the tip. Sadly when running a successful business, my job was more about marketing, quality control, and making profits overall. Corporate could care less how I relate to my employees. The bottom line was always about the profit. I hate to say it, but my first few times being a front of the house manager and friends to all the staff up front failed. It wasn't until I was hired into that position that I earned the respect of the position and could be the disciplinarian I grew to be.

Moral of the story, respect and friendship are two different things. He might be a good motivator and an even better friend to his team, but it takes earning the respect of your employees and that is done by experience and discipline. Maybe a new scenery and experience will make Garrett a better coach. Jerry was the one to give him that chance, but like me and several others that had to lead, it took a few destinations and experiences to finally excel. Not gonna say he is the worst coach or even a bad coach, just saying he is a young coach that has yet to find his way. I think it will take another destination or a few to really see what Garrett is made of. Sadly we have seen the best he has to offer with Dallas unless he started from scratch. I agree with many when we say it is time to move on.

Did you wipe the dust off the stats and that claim about JWitt? As for blocking.....look at the thread that examined the run blocking. We dissecting just Division Games now? Witt...the TE that retired AFTER the draft and came back the next day MNF put the word out that a pink slip was coming. C'mon Man.
 
Raise your hand if you are tired of all of this. I look forward to hopefully a new coach with some skins on the wall who has a plan and knows how to create an identity. One who will leave no doubt what he is thinking and actually stands up for what he believes the team should be.

I am so sick of hearing about old players bagging on garrett and then the response from the garrett people etc.

It's all a tired act and I know because jerry is going to hire the next coach there is a good chance of complete buffoonery but at this point changes are beyond needed.
 
Has any ex-Garrett offensive player had a good thing to say about the guy's coaching abilty? Romo, Witten, Dez, TO, Crayton have all called him out publicly.

I've watched the replays and there isn't one receiver running a pass route during either..............They were all clearly running towards a defender to engage them..............................That doesn't seem like a pass option to me.....................................

It wasn't they wanted Zeke to run for the first down. It was obvious to me....they took the ball out of the hot QB's hand. MUPPETS!!

People would probably be surprised to hear me say again that the team will and (probably) should move on if Garrett can’t get this years’ team over the hump. It’s a prove-it year for him, and he needs to deliver.

Its a long season though. No need to overreact when we’re still leading the division. We need to get better. It sucks losing winnable games. That’s how it goes sometimes.
 
The biggest screw-up by any Cowboys player in the last 12 years was by Crayton on the next to last play of the game vs the Giants in the 2007 playoffs.

Hard to ever top that. We win and they go home and dont get a SB win if he just completes his route and catches a perfect pass
Not to mention his earlier drop as well..it may not be fair, but cant ever think of Crayton without thinking of that lazy play and that game.

Haaving said that, sure, Garrett deserves to be called out..
I'm sure it haunts him.
