I feel bad for anybody going through a custody battle and there respective children. I pray all goes well for all involved. With that said; I was a littel concerned with the legitmacy or the nature of Ro's absence
from the team. This is certainely an excusable absence.

Welcome back Ro, I hope alls well and lets go kick some GNATS BUTT.

The media intentionally under-reported the reason for his absence. It makes for better copy if they can imply that he is flaking out.

Expect more of this in the future. I don't think he has a fragile psyche like people claim but I think his family is the sensitive point with him. The Cowboys would never be able to put the game over his family and these kinds of excuses will have to trump anything else going forward. Even up to possibly missing a game. As long as it keeps working, we just have to live with it.

I think there is some truth to this post and I think it would be beneficial to the team that Jerry try to figure out a solution for this before we do a longterm deal.

I don't thats accurate. He wasn't signed in Feb or March
He was signed and talked into coming back football during camp. This needs time to get thrashed out. Can't blame him or accuse him for being over sensitive for this. He had a court hearing! He just didn't leave VR becaues he was "sensitive" . I think Room wants to do this right moving forward.

I think you missed my point. My point is, while a player, for example, might miss the birth of his child to play in a game, Ro would probably be the last person in the league to do so. I think the Cowboys and him have an understanding that any situation involving his boys would have to come first before football. Heck, he went into retirement to straighten that stuff out first.

So even more than any player on the team, they'll have to make arrangements to make sure he is satisfied with his domestic situation and then he can focus on football.

That's not true, he was acquired just before the team left for camp.

same diffrence... My point is; dont assume hes not going to be dedicated to the team or he will need special privliages, becaues he was mandated for a child custody Court hearing. This particular snap shot in the life of RM, doesnt indicate anything moving forward. I believe him when says hes ready to resume his football career, until he gives me a reason not to. As a result of changing his life style "just before the team left for camp" it may take some time to get his pre-existing family challnges seatlled. Now, if he left VR becaues he was home sick or just needed extra time with his kids, we would have a need to worry. Hopefully, moving forward with support of his family, the family stuff will be less problomatic. Hes says hes mature and ready and I believe him.

I think it's more likely they're using good judgement and not making his kids part of the story here. I hope so, anyway.

I may be cynical but I think if they knew 2 days ago we would have known.

It wasn't necessarily under-reported. Most outlets reported it as a family matter, probably to preserve a semblance of privacy. DMN is the only media outlet that reported it as a custody hearing.

Media doesn't ALWAYS have to report what's going on. That said, this was a matter of public record, so if anyone wanted to look it up, they could have, which is why DMN probably chose to report it.

It was also noted that the Cowboys were always aware of the hearing and this was a planned absence.

The local talk radio guys went on about "could this be a sign of McClain flaking out" even though Mike Fisher had already been on their station telling them that it was a custody hearing.

Most talk radio folks are yahoos or at least are playing down to the lowest common fan denominator. If you follow the main guys on twitter or the main media outlets, they all knew why he was gone and that it was planned.

My prayers go up for all involved too. Things like this have got to be tough. I hope he and his wife are at least amicable, for the kids sake.
