i don't want to lose games, but i don't think we have to worry that much about this guy.

i mean, the Commanders game kick was NOT his fault. he shouldn't take the blame for that.

and the two he missed the other week were not "gimmes" -- they were mid-40s. yes, he should have made them. but that's one bad game. you have to figure that the most accurate kicker in nfl history would make that up over time.

and his replacement? holy cow, gramatica's career percentage is hardly better than what vandy's percentage is for this season.

and considering that you still have to pay vandy his signing bonus and possibly all of his contract for this season, PLUS whatever you're paying gramatica directly, you have to look at it as if you're paying gramatica ALL of that combined -- because that's what you're paying for your kicker.

does anyone really think that gramatica is worth the price of TWO kickers?!

hey vandy wasn't doing what he was getting paid for. honestly i think he was missing on purpose. if we go to the playoffs and had a chance to win with a fg by vandershank, i would bet my life he would miss it

That's interesting. What is ur reasoning for saying that? I'm not attacking the statement or anything...just curious since i've never heard this angle of the story.

This move was made mostly because everyone in the locker room practically couldn't stand the guy and that's saying something when you have T.O. on your team...LMAO! You can't be a kicker who's missing field goals and not well liked, not a good combination!

the one he missed last year was on purpose too(in my opinion) the kick he missed last year against the steelers, i have never seen a kick missed that bad indoors. this is also "the most accurate kicker in nfl history" ya know. i heard he wasn't happy here just like last season with indy. so what did he do? he kicked his way out of indy. all his kicks this year have been wide right. you would think that "the most accurate kicker in nfl history" could make adjustments. also i caught him smiling several times after he missed a few(for us). and the whole "the shank against pitt is in his head" is bs. he has kicking down to a science. 1 kick is gonna mess "the most accurate fg kicker in nfl history" up? i doubt it, vandy knew exactly what he was doing.......not to mention he still gets paid.

Are you serious? You think that he missed these kicks on purpose? He is willing to kick himself out of the league? So with this thinking, "I don't want to play for the colts, let miss a FG; I don't like Dallas, lets miss some FG."

Sorry, I don't buy it. Vandy, here's you check for this year, and there's the door. Say good-bye to your career.

I think your one statement is the basis of bigbadroy's theory. We paid him a $2.5million signing bonus, plus another $660000 or so in game checks. Plus it was reported during traiing camp that he did not like being in Dallas.

He basically took the money and ran away with it.

But that is career suicide if it's true. What team is going to hire him if he will miss kick because he's mad a someone or something.

His confidence was shot and teams have adjusted to his short kickoffs so we were now suffering in the field position game as well. Grammatica will give us better depth on kickoffs and I just hope his terrible '03 season with the bucs is WAY out of his mind.

He is not worth the price of 2 kickers, but you have to admit that Vandy had lost his confidence. If not, he would not keep missing the same kick. He barely was getting extra points in, and pushing everything right is a confidence problem. He reminded me of a pitcher that just can't find the strike zone, and tries to aim every pitch. I don't think you can look at it like Gram. is worth 2 kickers, but that is where we are. Hope Gram can get in a rythm, and make some kicks, and I hope that this week in windy Giants stadium doesn't come down to him from 48.

Nobody goes in thinking... "Hey, I should tarnish my name and miss on purpose." He was considered the most accurate kicker in the NFL.

He is really having confidence issues. It's definitly in his head. This is something he may never overcome. In some ways I feel bad for him. And then when I think of how much money he was making, just to kick field goals...

All I can do is shake my head.

Cutting Vandy was the right thing to do. Sent a message. Maybe Gramatica will get hot if he is needed. Hopefully he is not needed.

I remember when Gramatica was on top of the kicking world. If, and I realize if is a tremendous gamble here, he can return to his form, he will be great. Sometimes kickers start their careers on talent alone, and when that falters, they have to go back and relearn the basics. Let's hope that is the case with Martin.

Do you not understand? The players did not like him. He has lost all confidence. Get over it.

There is no way he missed ANY kicks on purpose... those smiles that everyone talk about... he wasnt smiling that he missed... those were *** smirks... he wanted to make the kicks..... NOw.. if you want to attack his work ethic or his attitude then you may have something
