We essentially got a smart, versatile interior linemen. Could be worse. But considering the alternatives, we could have done much better.

who could have been better. NFL teams have players rated different than couch scouts at ESPN and CBS or any other site. Look at the 1st round, alot of players went in the first that these sites have rated as 2nd round picks.

Jerry should have gotten more out of the trade down than just a 3rd but Frederick at 31 wasn't a reach or a bad pick. Dallas might have a 1st round grade on him or atleast a very early 2nd, if so then they picked as even value. its not where ESPN or CBS had him rated, Dallas or any other NFL team does't use those ratings. I trust NFL teams and scouts over ESpN and CBS

We aren't going to get a safety. We will stick it out with Johnson, Church, Allen, and McCray most likely.

you are so wrong,i wouldnt be surprised if we picked one in the 2nd.

Every year there is a safety that's available in the 2nd or 3rd round that everyone has fallen in love with and curse Jerry, Jason and the world when we don't draft him. Then that player disappoints and the same people fall in love with another 2nd or 3rd round graded safety.

I remember when Morgan Burnett, Nate Allen, Patrick Chung and George Iloka all would have put the Cowboy's secondary over the top according to some posters on here. I imagine that Cyprien will be like these guys.

They drop down and pick up a 3rd rounder + give up 80 points of trade value points (equal to a 4th rounder) = bad start

While he might be a good center his grade did not justify a 1st round selection, a 2nd ti 3rd round selection at best.

Leaving all of the 3 1st to 1st/2nd round safeties to others and ignoring an area of need.

We reached with the pick and could have gotten him later. We could have had the top RB (1st round grade) to back/replace Murray.

Jerry can't make up his mind and stick to it. So he wheels and deals and then reaches for his pick, probably blindfolded. If the extra 3rd pick we got doesn't make up some ground this whole trade will be another bust to add to the list.

Jerry said interior OL and safety are our biggest needs. If there's a safety rated at the right spot on our board, they'll snag him over another position.

Who decides on the draft value board? Is the draft board the same every year? What happens if there is a deep draft? What happens if the first round is a weak one? Are those values still the same?

Given how quickly offensive linemen were going, would you really think he would be there in the 2nd round when we picked, let alone the 3rd?

You know we're running a tampa 2 which is cover 2, which means they would be playing deep zones with 50 percent coverage responsibility, right? So obsessed with the rank of a safety, you would completely ignore their ability to fit into our system.

RB is the same. Did any RBs even get drafted yet? It's a deep draft for RBs but you're concerned that we didn't draft one in the first round? You're out of your mind. And what line would run block for him? The same one that was 31st last year?

It'll either be Phillip Thomas in the second or JJ Wilcox in one of our third spots.

have gotten Frederick in the 2nd Round now they will lose Cyprein before they pick again in the 2nd Round

Doubtful enough that if that's who they wanted, they needed to take him there. Besides, Philip Thomas is better anyway.

Often times, not nearly as much as we think we do.

Throw Pat Watkins in there, and we actually got him much later than many wanted to take him.

Now, I'm not opposed to drafting a safety in the second round, but it's just ridiculous to fall in love with these guys and criticize the team when they don't see it the same way.

I'm glad someone else sees it too. I remember seeing people furious that Jerry didn't trade back into the 2nd to get Allen and then absolutely livid when we picked Sean Lee over Burnett.

That's exactly what happens. For the most part people spend time looking up about 15 players to 20 players, and the fall in love with those players. If we don't get one of those players, regardless of whether or not they fit our team or scheme, the team has had a bad draft.

They repeat the process on the second day, so they can keep up to an extent.

Others of us have looked at players that fit our team, and have looked at how deep this draft is. I don't follow college football, but I've looked at the players and their scouting reports. I've looked at players as far into the 5th and 6th round.
