Perfect timing. Let him shake the rust off and hopefully after the bye week he is ready for that long stretch of road games we have. We definitely need a pass rusher, stat!

Great, I would doubt he will be ready to start right away but getting playing time in pass situations would be big right now. Spencer also is starting to show that he is regaining his game legs. My hope is this defense will start producing more from the DE spots with these 2 back in the lineup

I think he's 100% pass rush specialist most of the year. Sounds like he used his time off to bulk up though, so it wouldn't be out of the question to see him taking some first down snaps as we get deeper in the year

Thanks Texas Pete...haven't seen many things mentioned about it except it was a "foot injury". Did see in one of these threads that there were Tweets about Free being in a walking boot and possibly being out a couple of weeks. Nothing confirmed so I guess we just wait and see if Garrett pulls a Hoody or if he lets the cat out of the bag.

Hope Free is ok and won't miss time. The line is really operating at a high level. Their continuity is great and it is just gelling with the addition of Martin, meaning it should improve the more the guys play together. Scary thought for opposing defenses.
Tune in to 105.3 The Fan. Mike Fisher (Cowboys insider) is supposed to discuss it in the next segment.

I agree, if I had to take a guess I think your view is the most likely. I knew when he went down it would be tough with very little camp time and no pre season action, the best I could hope for was him returning and being a pass rusher in passing situations

Right now, that would be HUGE. Crawford, Melton, and Mincey were all thisclose to sacking Russell last night. With a faster pass rusher, he's sacked.

WG just posted a Twitter update in the Fanzone.

Agreed. We can afford to make him strictly a pass rushing specialist until he gets his legs under him. By week 11 or so he should be rolling.
They allow the RDE is this defense to be a pass rush first player a large percentage of the time. Most 4-3 defenses have much more stringent requirements for both DEs to play run contain that they do in this defense which often let's the RDE rush with run defense as an afterthought.

D-Law was a really good run defender in college. I had him as a top 2 run defender of all the possible RDEs in the draft.

Good stuff as usual X. I think they will work him in slowly though. Naturally as the season wears on we'll see his reps increase.

I'm not sure if he is conditioned enough to handle obvious passing downs yet. If he give us 10-15 pass rushing snaps, I'm happy. We'll see soon enough though. I'd love to be wrong here and see him step right in where he left off in TC.

I expect it to be very similar to what they did with Spencer.

2 weeks from today I want to hear the word DLaw is returning. Hopefully he will get some snaps against Arizona.
