He basically lost his rookie season, so I wouldn't be too tough on him.
Maybe we'll get a leap in his second season like we saw in Tyron Crawford.

Not that it means anything at this point, but this was one of those draft moves that I wasn't a fan of.
Both a 2nd and 3rd rounder for him was steep, and there were some very good players to had in those slots. That's how I felt on draft day, and still do.
But that's water-under-the-bridge stuff....so just looking forward to him making our front office look good.

That trade up definitely smacked of desperation and Jerry's gambling nature. If Lawrence turns out to be a great player then Jerry's off the hook, but I have to say this move coupled with having to be talked out of the Manziel pick is concerning!

They say the game starts to slow down for most Rookies towards the end of their Rookie season and into the next season. DLaw has not even hit mid-season yet.

He has no pass rush moves at all..

He needs technique in a bad way..

We won't see him come alive in the playoffs and we may not see him come alive until late next season or even year 3.

The guy was too raw to use that many picks on. He's a true development player.

But if he has premiere talent we've seen developmental/raw guys get drafted high. Bruce Irvin was one. JPP was another.

on a side note, Boatright was getting a lot of push on the outside. Noticeable diff when he was in.

I don't like Jerry, but I doubt he knew who DLaw was. Manziel of course was the sexy pick. Too me, DLaw falls on Rod.

Guys:

I was watching Lawrence to see if he flashed at all. He seems very raw, has few pass rush moves (that he's shown anyway), and seems to fall a lot.

One encouraging sign, on one play the Washington runner (or receiver, don't remember which) broke out down the sideline (probably on screen play). and I watched Lawrence chase him. Lawrence did't catch him but his speed was impressive as he appeared to match the speed of the Washington runner.

Don't think he will do much this year, but with development he might make a player. He does have some good tools, (speed, long arms, etc).

JR

he is learning on the fly and that's not the right way to learn. he missed preseason and missed another 9 games. so he is just catching up. right now the teams are focused on game planning and fine tunning. not teaching and working with rookies. but this gives him a good experience. I will focus on him next year and see what he can produce once he has another legit DT next to him.

He hustles and comes hard every play, he has played better and better the last two weeks. He's definitely coming on, I wouldn't be surprised if he showed off some in the playoffs.

I just don't see how you can make any sort of judgment on this guy yet. He just hasn't had enough practice or playing time for a rookie.

I know he spent a ton of time in the weight room due to his injury, but he still needs to get a lot stronger.

He tries to bullrush, but he's not strong enough. On stunts when he twists with a DT and rushes through the A or B gap, he gets stonewalled by guards.

He has shown quickness off the snap, sometimes he's playing the run first. He had two first class hurries in a row in the second half that could have been sacks. I thought I saw one of Charles Haley's moves when he started outside while hand fighting, got the tackle off balance, and then countered inside. According to David Helman Haley was coaching him some last week.

He finally showed something. Still need to see more. Idc if he's a rookie. I need to see some flashes. Boatright showed why he was promoted to active roster.

Jerry knows more then you think.

I'm sure he does. But when it gets to the 2nd round, I'm sure someone is telling him to do the trade vs him saying we need to do a trade. Bottom line, I don't think it was his idea to trade for DLaw, like it would be his idea to draft Manziel. Water under the bridge, I have my fingers crossed for DLaw, we need him big time.

Unfortunately, he seems like a solid RE to me. He is a Mincey/Selvie type of player, which isn't bad, but we needed a pass rusher.

He was coming on late in the game. All he needs is playing time.

Motorboat is one of my pet cats.

He also had some inside snaps at DT in the game.

I hope he has a great off-season and is in the mix to make the roster next pre-season.

Yep, they'll sink or swim with him next year.
