D-line/front 7 situation, rooks or vets?

BP loves the vets but this year we seem to have some darn good prospects on the d-line that most likely won't make it to the practice squad if cut. So do you think Parcells throws a little caution to the wind and gambles on a bigger upside with Ratliff and Thomas Johnson, or does he play it safe with the known quantities of Carson and Ogbogu? Guys who you know what you are getting but thats about the end of it. Youthful mistakes for potential talent later or solid play now but from guys who won't be here soon?

It doesn't make me feel good nor should Obgogu either when BP state, "Ogbugetyu will play in the NFL this year!" That doesn't sound to assuring. I would however keep Ratliff, Johnson and Ogbjdfhgu, but let Carson go. It sounds crazy but a 8 man Dl rotation sounds good to me. Obgjgdaseiu is the only player that can really spell Ware.

IMO, Eric O. would be more of a utility guy if he makes it, but mostly playing as a 3-4 OLB. I think he just misses the final cut.

I could see Ratliff and/or Johnson beating out Carson. Parcells could also decide to carry an extra DL though and go with 8 until he is sure Fergy will be OK.

Thornton can back him up at OLB, especially on passing downs.

When Thornton is classified as a pass rushing OLB and BP states today that his top 3 pass rushers are Ware, Ellis and Ohgshgu, I'd take Oahkgu! Thornton just doesn't impress me for some reason. I really hope I'm wrong, but I just see Okghhvfdgopu as more valuable on STs and on defense than Thornton.

Carson makes it, Ogbogu is gone. Bog bodies are needed in the defensive lineman and Ogbogu is not big enough to start every down. Coach Parcells called him a situational pass rusher, but that would be if he could play some cover LB and he can't.

DE - Ferguson, Glover, Ellis, Coleman, Carson, Johnson, Canty, Ratliff...that's gonna be the rotating 8 guys.

LB is tough. so many young guys who are great on special teams as of right now, but what will they be on defense by the end of this season?

Coaching is a tough job.

You left Spears out of the rotation.

Glad you guys remembered Spears. I think "guaranteed guys" on the DL are Coleman, Spears, Ferguson, Glover, Ellis and Canty based on the media and Parcells comments. Given Parcells statements that big guys are hard to find, I think he will keep 8 cause he is impressed with rookies Ratliff and maybe Johnson (Parcells might also try to put Johnson on the PS). I don't think Carson has shown as much as Parcells wants but he is third on DT behind Ferguson and Glover and, given Ferguson's lack of playting time) might influence/force Parcells to keep him until he's more sure about Ferguson. In any case I think this is a final call held off until the last minute. I think is between Johnson, Carson and may Ogoboto for the final 8th slot (if we keep 8 and I don't know how we can keep any less cause we got a lot of talent here--more then we have ever had. Of course, Parcells might try to trade one of the latter guys for a pick if he thinks he can get something for them. I might add we will also have same problem with our LB core where we also seem to have some nice guys albeit w/o the experience/size Parcells wants (at OLB).
