Can someone please explain to me why, if they have heard, didn't our defensive coahces use a jam technique on Derrick Mason with his bum shoulder? Has this been discussed in the media in Texas or anywhere? If it hasn't, it needs to be discussed ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kid is tough, but he went out everytime someone blew on his shoulder!!!!!!!!:bang2: :bang2:

I agree with you. Henry should have been up there beating the crap out of him. That is a head scratcher.

Michael Irvin was asking the same question yesterday in his radio show. That pretty much shows I think, Cowboys players don't play with Brains, hence the stupid penalties no matter the coach.

I didn't watch the TD throw, but Irvin said, Henry was like 10 yards off as usual when Mason caught that TD pass. I mean, why the heck would you even do that, near red zone and that too with a Gimpy WR? Both the coaches and Player have to be dumb not to do that. No wonder this team can't win with any consistancy seems like.

Because our CB's are required by law to play 5-10 yards off the WR...............Your guess is as good as mine

The coaches should have capitalized on that. Henry is going to try his best to execute what play the coaches call. That was on the coaches.

To be honest, they should have beaten him up to the point he exited, not played soft zone and let a very courageous player step up.

I have emboldened, italicized, and underlined the reason why none of the above happened on Saturday.

If I am not mistaken, Mason caught the TD pass behind Henry, when Flacco had all the time in the world to catch the pass. The 'coverage' scheme had nothing to do with it. Henry was watching the QB while Mason wandered back and forth behind him.

It has everything to do with the coverage scheme. If you see a corner (ex: champ bailey) go down with an injury, do you not go after his replacement? My point is, after seeing Mason go down with a shoulder injury on his first 2 catches, why in the world would our coaches keep calling a zone scheme on him. We should have beat him up with in the rules every single play including on run plays when he tried to block. That shoulder would have fallen off if it were up to me and our season was on the line. Someone should be accountable for that decision!

The coaches call the defensive plays, not the players.

If Wade tells Henry to play off 10 yards, that's what Henry is going to do.

Don't blame it on Henry. Blame it on Wade.

I agree partly. When does a player get the $$#@! to go to the coaches and say, "this guy is hurt, let me bang him up with some bump and run coverage." Someone has to see it and ask to make the change. Whether its from the coaches (thats what they're paid to do) or a player with a high football i.q. stepping up for the coaches mental lapse. Either way, it's not a good sign when the adjustment doesn't happen for an entire game.

Whoever said it was the coverage scheme's fault obviously has never played defensive back at any point in their lives. As a DB your job is to never under any circumstances let your man get behind you.

I am talking about the TD play... If you claim Henry was playing that far off of him, and that is the reason why Mason got the TD, it is plain wrong... Mason scored the TD when he was BEHIND Henry, and Flacco had all the time in the world to make the pass...

Henry can't hit Mason after the first five yards and all that time Flacoo had effectively rendered any attempts to hit Mason impossible... It would have been pass interference...

Henry can be blamed though, because he was watching the QB and not paying attentin to Mason...

Mason went out of the game no less than 3 times. Makes you wonder if our coaches are even paying attention during the game. Each time he came back, I thought if they just keep hitting him they can get him out of the game for good, but for some reason we played off on the TD catch. :bang2:

Why are yall stuck on that one play. Our stupidity lasted from the play after his first catch and went out lame. Thats darn near the entire game that no one on our staff, not a player, our too-involved owner, or whoever noticed that we should punish his shoulder within the rules until HE QUIT OR THEY RULED HIM OUT FOR THE REST OF THE GAME!!!!!!!!! We didn't compete within the rules to have a competitive advantage and take a threat out of the game before that damn play yall keep bickering about even happened. What kinda heartless, too mr. nice guy team do we have that we just kept letting a lame player hurt us for an entire game? WE DID NOTHING, NOTHING LADIES AND GENTLEMAN!!!!! What's gonna happen if we do make the playoffs? That's not the right mentality to have for the postseason. I've been saying it for years, this team is SOFT! And it's showing at the wrong time again! They better toughen up real quick or alot of yall will be making more excuses for a team filled with millionaires that don't know how to win. No one on this team of importance has won squat. Brad, Campo, Houck, not included! It's obvious their influence hasn't rubbed off on this team. It goes a long way to know how to win and not just play close and come outta a game with some type of moral victory! We don't know how to suck it up when it matters! Plain and simple! Sorry if I have offended anyone, but I'm passionate about the Cowboys and it kills me to see a talented team go to waste year after year, because no one had the balls to man up and play through fatigue or extreme circumstances. We throw in the towel too often in some shape, form or fashion when it counts. Off-sides, pass interference, FLOZELLED, intentional grounding, dropped pass, can't recovery a fumble, bobbled snap, fumbled saftey (TG vs CAR), getting your head stomped on and gashed open, 90-yard drive at the end of halves, 77-yard runs, 82-yard runs, the excuses have to stop.

Yeah, seems like fans are stuck on schemes vs players. While I never played, I heard from several players and coaches say, that playing off or playing press is not always coaches. Like last year, it was written Reeves played off when he was called to play press or lot closer.

Besides, you can always ask the coaches you want to play press. But fault lies with Both coaches and Players. Its mind boggling on how bad the players on this team screw up. Regardless of who is coaching this team.
