DETROIT -- There was a thought starting running back DeMarco Murray would play for the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions. But Murray missed his second consecutive game with a sprained left knee.

MurrayMurray's absence might have surprised Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones.

"I think DeMarco Murray could have gone," Jones said after the Cowboys' 31-30 loss to the Lions. "I don’t know what risk we would have taken with him, but he could have gone."

murray is another guy i'm starting to dislike.

He wanted to go last week. Garrett held him out. It seems that Jones was surprised by that call. Sounds like Jones is getting a little testy and the honeymoon with Garrett might be over.

yes murray thought he was playing - it was a game time decision by the coaches.

With a knee injury and the position he plays, it's best to play it safe. The Cowboys did the right thing resting Murray one more week. Rushing back from MCL injuries runs the risk of hurting other ligaments in the knee- at least that's what I heard from somebody. I've grown pessimistic about the Cowboys, but they can still make a run and they'll need Murray to do it.

He's in his third year of being head coach. If they're still in the honeymoon stage, that's an awfully long honeymoon. Regardless, implying that jones is souring on Garrett based on impression of one quote is a pretty big leap.

The Murray shills are amazing... Again, a thread was posted along this same line late last week and it was quickly debunked by the fact that while Murray could have gone the coaching staff held him out. It wasn't his decision. Hatred is an ugly thing.

I think Jerry is getting fed up with these injuries and players not willing to play through them. Ala Ratliff and now overtures here.

For once I tend to agree with him on something.

I read that he took first team reps all week and it wasn't until the weekend that he decided he wasn't good enough to play.

Hadn't seen it validated so kind of doubting it but if true that's just pretty lame.

In the end, he drafts these players with college injury issues. Duck and cover when Lee gets his yearly ding.

Agreed carter comes to mind as well.

True he does but I feel like we are overly cautious when it comes to nursing player injuries. If you can play then play enough with all this "we're bringing him along slowly" stuff. Its a short 16 game season and we need these guys on the field.
